  1. @bugandbee22 - Yes, I am a first time LVN/LPN student. I was not scared, a little nervous, but nonetheless -- EXCITED!!! I attend 5 days a week Mon-Fri from 8:30am - 3:30pm Mon,Tue,Wed and Thurs, Fri from 8:00am - 5:00pm we have skills on those two days, until we start clinicals in about a week and those hours vary. I have a lot of family help, to help watch my boys so that's a HUGE plus! Basically we are learning the foundations of Nursing which is a HUGE factors on our grades and we are also learning, Med-Math, Pharmacology and A&P all in ONE term it's a lot -- but it's very much so do-able! Just study, study, study! and also do the homework! Thing's are going good thus far! be positive and have a strong shoulder! I wish you mucho luck! I am doing this for my boys and myself and it's all worth it...
  2. Yesterday I got my grade and so far I have been maintaining a 89 % overall. I can do better but mind you I work and have two boys lol one of them a terrible two! Today in pharmacology I received 100% It was 44 questions!!! It has already been 5 weeks!!! crazy how time flies and I am sooo loving it!
  3. nope yess it will! it's full time m-fri
  4. I have until Dec 7th and I am stoked!!! Your so lucky you get breaks...we get none!
  5. Only read what they tell you to read so you DO NOT overwhelm yourself. I always do my homework from the study guide that's in the books on whatever subject we are doing -- it's ALWAYS on the test. Not sure how yours is going to go. Stay away from drama and always participate in the theory lectures and skills it helped me learn and comprehend a lot better. If there is a subject that your not understanding or getting, go to TUTORING if available! I go for everything, not because I do not understand it...it's because it gives me a review on what's important that's going to be on a quiz that's a big chunk of our grade. I have maintained a 92 % thus far. Study with classmates and on weekends. Make sure you are up to date with your vaccinations the school needs for your clinicals!!! You do not want to have to miss class like I did LOL
  6. Awh!! good luck hun! I started last month on the 12th and it's rolling by so fast! My fundamental book is Christensen Kockrew
  7. I am in California! It's super cold and really windy here right now.
  8. Congrats girl! Are you in California?
  9. It's a twelve month program. The actual start date is Dec 12th; however, orientation is a week long from 8am-4pm starting tomorrow to guru the basics. I believe each term is 21 weeks long (3 terms, I could be wrong w/ the weeks) but graduation is on Dec 4th, 2012 Congrats girl! I am more stoked because I do not have to pay a dime!
  10. I worked in a hospital w/ non hospital experience as a CNA. I would suggest taking a PCT class. I did not take one though. I personally contacted the hospital's hiring manager and she said they would train me their basic. EKG's. BP just really the basics. I did the whole orientation there with other PCT. I worked in the E.R and it was fast pace. Good luck!!!
  11. Hello, Tomorrow I start nursing school (LVN) and I am totally excited! I am doing the LVN-RN Bridge program because this will be easier for me financially in the long run and quicker! I have been stalking this site for many years now; so I finally decided to post something. I have been a CNA since 2002 -- I got certified in high school. They offered the course there after school and I needed some kind of extra credit and nursing just became my thing. Anyone else starting school soon? This is one of my New Year's Resolution.... xoxo Christan :redbeathe
  12. First off, congrats on your approach on becoming an RN! I am attending a local JCC for my classes too. There system, however, goes by a lottery. I know at least four ppl who got in the first try as long as your gpa was no lower than 2.0
