I once worked with a nurse who burned out after only one year and went to work as a stewardess for one of the major airlines. I left nursing and retired in 2012 after 40 years. Best decision I ever made.

Good for You! I retired almost five years ago after over 40 years in healthcare as a nurse's aide, LPN and RN and have not looked back. Enjoy!

Hey guys--- I am formerly CseMgr1 (accidentally deleted my e-mail associted with my account). Glad to be back on this forum after several years. I had some healing to do after losing my last job in healthcare during the "Great Recession" and though I am now retired, Nursing will always be in my blood! :)

I once worked with a Nursing Tech who was also a fourth-year nursing student at a prestigious University. She did not know how to place a bedridden patient on a bedpan. I'm not kidding.

Good advice. I was hired as a Medicare CM after doing home health for years. It will be well worth the investment.

I know. But that was not an option for me, as I had two elderly family members to support and no other available opportunities.

I know I am in the minority here, but I chose to be fired from my last job because I knew if I resigned, I would not qualify for unemployment benefits. My termination had nothing to do with my job performance--but had everything to do with cash flow problems this organization was experiencing. When I was first given a choice between resigning or accepting reduced hours, I chose the latter. I knew what they were up to, and wasn't buying into it. I did everything that was asked of me from the day I was hired to the day I was fired--and they tried to make it appear that my demise was of my own doing (which it wasn't). When I asked for supporting documentation, I was told to leave. My unemployment claim was approved without delay or question.
