NETI LPN Program
Hi Rickt83,was I reading correctly...did you say 28 thousand for the LPN program at Neti??? That is a lot of money,I could probably see that amount for an RN/BSN program, why on earth does it cost sooo much when I am sure other LPN programs are a third of that cost.Is the program good? A friend of mine is looking into getting her LPN but I dont think she can afford that much.I hope everything works out for you, sounds like you really want to do nursing, hang in there,it is a great career,

relocating to florida
Hi There, thanks for the thread.Sorry that Florida is not working out for you, there are cultural likes and dislikes in every part of the country. We have Boom Boom in New York too only difference is that it may be louder!!New York is a great spot if you are young and dont mind the noise and pollution, crime etc. However it is a hard choice for young families and getting pretty expensive to live here.I just have to weigh the positives with the negatives .Right now a little loud music is the least of my worries.Have you checked out other areas of Florida?Everyone deserves peace and quiet:)

Lee Memorial or Gulfcoast/Southwest??????
Thanks for your reply,I thought that a lot of people moved here in the past few years and was hoping some insight into the hospitals here. What department do you work in?My husband is trying to establish his own business in the area and I am in the process of renting out our home here in New York before the big move.I have not applied any where yet as I would prefer some feedback about the hospitals first.I have been in psych a long time and would love a change to a different field. It is hard to switch to another field after being in psych unless you want to do bedside med/surg.Do you like living and working in your area? Thanks for your info I will keep trying.

Lee Memorial or Gulfcoast/Southwest??????
Hi there,I am afraid I do not know the answer to your question about hospitals in SW area as I am looking for the same answers. The hospital in Port Charlotte is pretty nice but i really have not checked them out fully.Cape hospital is a community hospital and Lee is much bigger.Good luck with your investigations.I am hoping to relocate in June to the area, cant wait!!:chuckle

relocating to florida.
Hi Everyone, just love this site! Can anyone give me some information on hospitals in the Port Charlotte,Fort Myers area.My husband and I are relocating from New York to Florida, hopefully by the end of this summer.I have been a nurse for 15 years and 14 of those years in psych.I had thought about moving to another new area of nursing, perhaps maternity but it is very difficult to get into that field espically after been out of school 15 years.Any advice or info about the hospitals would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Florida Roll Call ......
Hi There,I live in New York moved here from Ireland 22 years ago and went to Nursing school here.I have been in psych for the past 15 years and am ready for a change. My husband and I have visited Florida about every 6 months for the past 8 years. We just love it there. We would like to relocate to the Port Charlotte,Fort Myers area. How is the job situation there?I know the salaries are a lot less than NY but to get away from the cold winters would be worth the payoff.(I cant shovel any more snow)The winters are very long and depressing.I would probably stay in psych, would love maternity but it is impossible to get into.I did med/surg 15 years ago and lets just say it was not my cup of tea!!Does any body have any info for me,would greatly appreciate it.I have plenty of info on New York if needed.Thanks...Mel.
