Failed first Chemistry test!
I just found out I got a 51 on my first Chemistry test. I had been getting A's and B's on the homework questions. I know I am not the only one to ever fail a test. But I just feel so horrible and embarassed. My teacher is the type that yells and gets annoyed if you ask a question. I have all the websites and books available to help me. But it just isn't sinking in well. I will need to get a tutor to help me through the rest of the semester (ending the end of April). Just needed to vent. Thanks for reading!

Has anyone taken two science coarses in one semester??
I am 45 years old, and Nursing is my second career. Being that I had not been a strong math/science student, I was advised NOT to double up on Science classes. So this semester, I only have Chemistry. Next semester will be A&P 1, then A&P 2, and so on. Yes, it will take me longer. But sometimes slow and steady wins the race. I know a few other students in my Chem class who have doubled up with another Science course. They are struggling. BUT, it IS doable!!! I guess it depends on the person.

Question about taking Chemistry
I just started my very first Chemistry for Nurses course last Friday. I was and still am a terrible math student. I a praying that it will all sink in. But my mind is swirling now.

How long did it take you to complete your prerequisites?
Thanks for all the replies. I went and got my student id and parking permit. It felt so good to be back on a campus! I haven't been on one since 1987! lol. But anyway, saw my advisor too. She said once I am finished with Chemistry, I should take AP 1 with lab next, then AP 2 with lab. Then I take the HCA course and study for the Hesi. Once all is said and done, I should be ready to apply to NS in May of 2013.

Becoming a Nurse After 40
I am 45 years old. I will be taking one prerequisite course at a time, starting this January 2012. I figure I will be 48/49 when all is said and done. But like so many others have said, I will be that age anyway. So why not be that age with a nursing degree? :)

What's your nursing kryptonite?
My son broke his wrist last month. The bone had moved out of place. So you could clearly see the deformity in his wrist. The ER triage Nurse could NOT deal with it. She said this was one of her weaknesses. That and eyeballs!

What career did you have before nursing?
I already have an AA degree. So some of my prerequisites are taken care of. My nursing adviser recommended I take ONE class at a time (to achieve a high competitive GPA for NS). She said it would take me a good 18 months or so to complete them. I guess her philosophy is better to take it slow and get good grades, then to rush through with poor grades.

What career did you have before nursing?
Yes, I am a mom too! Hardest job in the world! But soooooo worth it!!!! :)

Love it, thanks!! :)

What career did you have before nursing?
And how long did you stay in that job? I am a retail and restaurant recruiter. I have been working from home for the past five years. Before that, I worked in the brokerage field. But I have always wanted to be a nurse. I will be starting my very first prerequisite (Chem 1032) in January 2012. I was advised to take one class at a time. I figure it will take me from start to finish a good 3-4 years. I am 45 years old. How about you?

How long did it take you to complete your prerequisites?
No lab required for Chemistry since it's for my ADN. But it would be required for a BSN.

How long did it take you to complete your prerequisites?
Thank you all for your replies! I already have an AA Degree in Liberal Arts & Social Sciences. So only need the "core" prerequisites: * CHM 1032 Chemistry for Health Science 3 * BSC 1085 Human Anatomy & Physiology I 3 * BSC 1085L Human Anatomy & Physiology Lab 1 * BSC 1086 Human Anatomy & Physiology II 3 * BSC 1086L Human Anatomy & Physiology II Lab 1 Total Semester Credit Hours 14 *HCP 0001 Health Career Core (75.0 Contact Hours): This course is not calculated in the grade point average but must be completed prior to submitting an application to the Nursing Program. (Students may be eligible for a waiver if they have a current Florida or national license in another direct patient-care, health care profession). Additional General Education Courses Required *MCB 2010 Microbiology 3 *MCB 2010L Microbiology Lab 1 *HSC 1149 Pharmacology 2 *MTB 1370 Math for Health Related Professions 1

How long did it take you to complete your prerequisites?
Hi all, I am 45 years old, and finally taking the first step in realizing my dream of becoming a nurse! I will be taking my very first prerequisite course (Nursing-Chemistry) in January. I was advised to take one class a semester to have a competitive GPA. I am curious to know how long it took you to complete your prerequisites? Are there any courses you can recommend that would be good to take together? I am in S. Florida and will be going to Broward College. Thank You!!
