Who all is waiting to apply/hear back for Fall 2012?
Agreed ! The deadline for my program was April 15, I just keep checking the mail every day waiting for a letter, even though I know they announced letters to be sent out Mid-May. XD

Debates over next test date
Me too! I mean they still offer the test to take and just say it's recommended to be taken earlier, even though the school does online testing. And not yet, but I'll search for some and figure it out. Thanks!

Debates over next test date
Yes, I felt it would be a way to get a more efficient answer, but no luck. I've never gotten to see her personally because she said it wasn't necessary when I asked to make an appointment with her to discuss the test..:/

Debates over next test date
No, I can only test one more time, unfortunately. Our school thankfully does online testing, so we get the immediate scoring. I've tried speaking to her on multiple occasions, but somehow she ends up completely diverting my questions every time to present new ones and giving no answers :/

Debates over next test date
There are two opportunities for me to retake the TEAS-V before the admissions process is over. I can only pick one more time to take it, though. One is December 2nd, but I don't know if I'm completely prepared yet. The other is January 14th, but my school recommends for the test to be taken three months before the deadline for admission, which is in April. Should I take the test then since it's still allowed, or when recommended?

Specialty Requirements?
Okay, thank you! My interests are set on Medsurg currently, but I'll look into that and check :)

Specialty Requirements?
Sorry, I feel incredibly embarrassed to be asking, but I wasn't sure. Are nurses with associate's degrees allowed to be certified for specialties? I feel like it's an obvious question, I'm just missing the answer. :/

Results of first TEAS-V score
Thanks guys. Yeah, my score being lower is something I'm worried about. I live in Alabama, and the nursing adviser practically evades every single question I have by presenting a new one, so I have no idea if they'll accept the highest or most recent :/

Results of first TEAS-V score
I finally took my test today for the first time, and I'm disappointed in myself. I would say it's a decent score for local(68%), but I was reaching for higher. The Science was what threw me off, I know, but luckily I knew enough broad concepts to try and eliminate better. The 20+ hours of studying science specifically didn't help as much as I was hoping. But still, it's an alright score. Unfortunately, this is apparently the first time my school has used the TEAS as an admittance factor. The program's average is 64, and although most of my subscores are higher than my program average, I'm not so confident about getting in. My nursing advisor is absolutely useless no matter how specific I make my questions, and so I'm not sure how confident I should feel about using this score. Luckily for me, I overheard some people discussing that they made 50s. I'm allowed to take it one more time in six weeks. Should I take advantage of it, or do I still have a chance?

How I Studied for the TEAS
Just took my test this morning. I do remember concerning the Science that there were questions about pores, the Lymphatic System functions, the Brain anatomy and functions, Base/acidity(the basic scale is really all it covered), what was present in both Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes, Some minor Mitosis/Meiosis questions(just the products were mentioned on my test), about 3 questions concerning genetics(One on phenotype/genotype and at least one or two dealing with Punnett Squares), and something I was glad to see - multiple questions about complimentary DNA/RNA strands. Just know your nitrogenous bases and their compliments for that aspect. Surprisingly, there was only maybe two questions concerning chemistry on my exam, which was an unbelievable relief! The large majority of my test dealt with A&P and Biology, luckily! And Rosie1012, I'm an absolute failure concerning math in every way, and it ended up being one of my highest scores! You really don't have a whole lot to worry about with it as long as you can remember your basic math and a few formulas like percent change, converting decimals/fractions/percents, and managing to add/subtract a lot of things for problems that include things such as "minus all of the expenses listed, how much of this paycheck will be brought home weekly". Nothing extensive with solving for x, as they didn't make it too complicated. Just remember to pace yourself and don't overlook your basic math steps, and you should be fine! I'll edit later if I can manage to remember more. :)

Chances of Acceptance?
Thank you. I've tried doing just that, but the nursing advisor is being of no help with this matter. She won't even accept a meeting for an appointment and merely tells me that there is no average acceptance rating, and that they just accept as many people as they can starting from the highest scores. From what I've asked, there is no passing rate from my school that I can really strive to get on the exam :/

Chances of Acceptance?
Hi all, I was just wondering if there was really a way to figure out how good my chances are of acceptance if I make a 70+% on the TEAS-V? I go to a community college in a relatively small town(less than 2000 students), and the statistics of the program states that the average number of students admitted each year are 110. I have an average, not fantastic, GPA, but I've gotten most of my prereqs out of the way. Is there any idea as to whether or not I would be in the higher or lower spectrum of my chances?

Which Specialty Do You Have Your Eye On?
Hoping for either OR, Obstetrics, or Trauma here : )

Microbiology without Chem?
Thanks guys! I'm going for my Associate's, and the Chemistry isn't required, but it is recommended that I take a general course in it.

Microbiology without Chem?
I'm concerned about taking my Micro class next semester. I'm behind and also ahead in a way, since I only have about 4 pre-reqs left to take since I just switched my major to Nursing, but they're all prerequisites of one another. So, I decided to take them two at a time only. But my school says it recommends four hours of chemistry before taking it. I've only had high school chem, and so I'm not sure if it will be too difficult. I was wondering how much of an influence would chemistry be?
