Why are some aides so disrespectful?
So what ur saying is a nurse is more important than aide. That they have a lively hood,husbands/wives, kid(s), house(s), car(s), bills....etc and an aide dont. Basically an aide is worthless becuz they have a certification and not a license. When all boils down if in trouble the consequence is similar. But I guess like you practically said who needs to hear an aide side of the story when u have Jesus the nurse standing b4 u. With all due respect that's a bunch of mess.
-
Why are some aides so disrespectful?
There's no doubt that she was disrespectful. You have to treat every aide/person different as they all have their own characteristics and personalities. Being in the health field, not only do you have to learn your residents, you have to learn who you work along side too. I so disagree with Nascar Nurse. How can you side with the Nurse if you don't even get the aide side of the story. I think that is really unfair, don't you? I guess Nursing varies from state to state and ltc to ltc because where I'm from Nurse aides get paid fairly well and so do Nurses. But they would rather lose a dozen CNA's for one Nurse.

Question about patient care technician/cna.
It depends on what state u live in. I live in Michigan. I got my phlebotomy license 2 1/2 years ago and was unsuccessful at finding a job had a few interviews but they all wanted an experienced phlebotomist. I went on to be certified as a Nurse aide about six months later not being able to find anything as a phlebotomist. Here in Michigan most PCT's/PCA's do the same exact thing a nurse aide do but work in hospitals instead and get paid a lil more. I volunteered with pcts /pcas and none of them drew blood nor did EKG's. Yes Nurse aides wrk in hospitals too, but most hospitals required u to have atleast a year of ltc or hospital experience and yes CNA's can be hired in as a PCT/PCA.

"well I think that nursing is easier than working in a factory"
I worked in a factory once for 2 wks and I hated it. I can't stand in one spot all day for 8-12 hrs. It seems that your brakes go by extra fast. But I think everyones body is tolerable to different things, and it should be ones personal opinion only if they have done both.

Dorsey PN program Madison Hts campus
Hello to all. I've been trying to get info about Dorsey's PN program, but have been unsuccessful. Whenever I call the school I get the same reply "we don't know anything yet". I'm on a waitlist just to get info. Im try to make over the top expensive Everest and moving/driving to Ohio 4-5 days a week my last resorts. It would be great to get any info that would be helpful. Thank-you.

Need your opinion! Will I be fired over this?
As a CNA myself and a human being, we all make mistakes. I believe it depends on what kinda nursing home you work in. If its a bad one they may just do an incident report and keep it moving on the other hand if your at one of the good ones they may do all the precedures necessary but doesn't absolutely mean that your fired, more than like you'll get a write up and an inservice on falls and safety. I know this line of work is demanding and time consuming but you gotta take your time. Let me know how it goes.
