Parkland only hiring BSN's now?
I just got a hold of her. It is true, they no longer accept ADNs. Very upsetting. I wanted to work there so bad.

Parkland only hiring BSN's now?
I heard that Parkland has stopped hiring those with their ADN. This is a new thing. Can anyone confirm/deny? I can't get in touch with the nurse recruiter.

Platt College LPN Program Moore Oklahoma City Oklahoma
I don't know if you started the program or not but I graduated from Platt in 2012 and as a single mother I'm very glad that I did it. If you have any questions please let me know.

Considering Platt College...
I attended Platt's LPN program (graduated 2012) and went directly into working at an acute care hospital. I felt prepared and my other classmates did as well. I'm glad that I did it so that I could go ahead and start the program instead of waiting around waiting to get accepted, etc.

34,000 dollars for lpn school at platt okc
Hi, yes I graduated from Platt and it was tough as the teacher turnover rate was very high so we had to get accustomed to every new teacher that came and change how we learned things and they made a lot of changes during our time there but we made it through. I work at a hospital and there are a few RN's there who got their LPN's at platt and had no issues with obtaining employment after going to school there.

If I can do it, you can too (Single mom, worked 48 hrs a week)
Just wanted to offer a few words of encouragement to those who are struggling nursing students wondering if they will make it through. I am 24, mother to a wonderful 8 year old daughter. I started LPN school in Sept. 2010 which was 3 months after I got divorced. I was severely depressed for a while, had to work four 12hr night shifts a week as a nurse tech in a hospital to be able to pay the bills, and went to LPN school M-F 8a-4pm. I had to stay up for 34-38 hrs at a time due to my work/school/mommy schedule. I got sick often due to the stress. One day I got to clinicals and just cried. I was so tired. I ended up taking a 3 month break, and I'm so glad I did. I came back to school with the class behind me, re-energized and re-focused. My advice is if you have to work FT then ideally get a double weekend job but I didn't want to find a new job cuz I absolutely love my coworkers and coming from a nursing home with terrible coworkers, I didn't want to give that up. If you have to take a break and are able to do so, do it. There were times I just wanted to give up. If you feel that way, DON'T DO IT. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel. I finally see that light, being 2 weeks away from my last day of school and having a position waiting on me on a med/surg floor at the hospital I've been working at for the last 2 years as a nurse tech with my wonderful coworkers to guide me into my first years as a nurse. Yes, there are people who have it worse than me. There's always someone out there who has it better than you, and someone who has it worse than you. Either way, we can do this! Have faith in yourself, try not to stress, and just breathe. WE GOT THIS!!

Help! Which job should I choose??
Unfortunately not. There is a LPN here who was a tech on this floor for 6 years and still started off at $12/hr base.

Help! Which job should I choose??
Yes I'm in OK, but job B is a long term acute care facility, not just LTc.

Help! Which job should I choose??
Thanks guys for your input. I'm worried about burning bridges and losing out on a job in the future if I need it as well so there's a lot I have to take into consideration however it IS considerably less pay. If anyone has any other insight please let me know

Help! Which job should I choose??
I am a LPN student who is trying to choose which job to go to when I graduate: Job A: Med/surg floor at a hospital where I work at as a tech for the past year and a half, excellent coworkers that are very knowledgeable and helpful. Approx. 12 wks orientation. Would be great to use on resume for acute care experience when I become RN with future goals of NICU or L&D. Lots and lots of skills. LPNs and RNs are used pretty interchangably here with the exception of having a RN signature after certain things. Con: extremely low pay of $12/hr day shift, however would be able to get $16/hr working nights and weekends (I only do nights). However since you only can get weekend pay for 2 of those nights, the third night would only be at $13/hr. This is less than I get paid now as a tech! Job B: long term acute care facility, pay is $21-23/hr for nights/weekends. Has an ICU so I would be able to get ICU experience. Orientation is approx. 6 weeks I believe. Pay wise, job B is much better of course (and I'm a single mom), but having great coworkers would be very helpful with starting my new career that I don't feel confident with but at the same time, it's considerably less pay. also, these coworkers have been here for many years, some more than 20, so they most likely won't be going anywhere else anytime soon. My bosses are great, having been very flexible with changing my schedule often with the needs of school. I'm just at a loss as to what to do. If I leave the hospital and go to the LTAC and don't like it there, then I'm pretty sure they won't hire me back since I left in the first place...

Best Neonatal NP programs?
I mean where are the best NNP programs in the U.S. This is for when I am able to become one. I am just a nursing student now.

"Untraining" someone from adults to NICU
I did a search but couldn't find anything on this. I am a LPN student and at my facility LPNs can only work in Med/Surg and the ER. I would like to work in the NICU when I become a RN. I have seen that some facilities prefer people who go straight into NICU vs. starting out with adults, understandably so. They say they don't like to "untrain" them. My question is, what exactly are they "untraining" them from so that I can try to memorize what to do if it was NICU pt instead of an adult pt, if that makes sense. Also, would you rather work in Med/Surg or the ER so that it would be easier to use a similar "thought process"?

LPN in Med/Surg or ER first?
I am a tech on a med/surg unit at a hospital. I will start LPN school in Oct. and plan on working at this hospital when I graduate. However, I found out last night that LPNs can work in the ER at the hospital where I work at. Should I work in med/surg or the ER as soon as I graduate? The LPN that worked in the ER that I talked to recommended I start in the ER if I was interested in it. My passion is labor and delivery (which I will do when I'm a RN) so I feel like the ER would be good to start out in due to the whole "can be quiet one minute, crazy the next" (I do know med/surg can be like this as well) thing and help me handle emergency situations better. However I'm wondering if it would be better to start out slower to learn and improve my nursing skills in med/surg. Thoughts?
