During my first attempt at nursing school I had an instuctor tell me i needed to drop out b/c I had a problem with 2 girls I went to high school w/ who were also in my nursing program. I thought it was very wrong that she would tell me to drop out over high school drama that did NOT enter school or clinical, it was outside drama she overheard on lunch break.

That's too funny! So in class today we watched a guy deep throat this breathing thing(don't remember the name it's rare) while he was awake to show how easily it's inserted into the esophagis. Nice!

Now that is what I call typical male idiocy(sp)! My ex used to do construction you wouldn't believe the stories he used to tell me! Let alone the stuff I saw when I dropped lunch or smokes off to him!! I wonder if the only rule to construction is that you must be an idiot! lol

:rotfl: :chuckle i am a nursing student and have spent about 4-5 hours reading all 57 pages of these stories, anyone who came near me at home or on the computer thought i was nuts because i was laughing so hard i was crying and really almost peed my pants! i told my instructor a couple of stories from here and she told me to get a hobby! my mom thinks i've lost my mind and my friends boyfriend thinks i'm sick, my friend tho a lpn laughed w/ me. i had a bad day yesterday and got on here and laughed so hard the 4 hours i got of sleep last night before clinicals didn't bother me today, i smiled almost all day! as soon as i got home from clinical today i got straight on here to finish the last 5 pages. thank you to everyone who posted! i feel slightly more prepared for what could happen to me. the test books give you the basics but this gives you real life! keep them coming! i have gaged in skilled nursing at the things i saw,felt, and smelled but i now feel better because not once did i get sick reeading this!! i even at dinner both night while reading these! i don't remember the last time i laughed so hard!

Can someone please tell me why I'm going to school. Is what people are saying as true as it sounds? Am I just wasting my time and money to become an LPN and eventually and RN just to have CMA's take over my job after a couple weeks training?? Can anyone make me feel better about this situation?

You've got to be kidding me:angryfire I hope everyone goes and looks at this link, I can't believe what they are doing to LPN's!!

Please don't take offense to this, but that's shocking! I'm sure you are a good CNA but imagine some of the people just come of the streets and do that. In NY state you have to take courses and clinicals and then pay $150 to take the test which is VERY strict. I agree that this CMA business is VERY outragous, I would NEVER allow my family to be passed meds by them. I'm sorry but a couple weeks training is NOT enough to pass something that could kill someone! :angryfire I just don't like this situation at all!!

It's always about the money, and it always will be. I don't agree with it, nor do I really except it. I wanted to be a chef and could've made more money doing that, but I chose nursing because I want to help people not just make them fat LOL. But I'm so frusrtated already and I only started school in Sept. The things I've seen CNA, LPN and RN's do shock me. And they know I'm a student and they look at me and tell me "This is what you shouldn't do." What kind of message are they sending to us students?!?! It makes me so mad and I have to place to say anything either.The people are getting paid to take care of these people, not "forget" them.

I am an LPN student and I am outraged that i'm spending almost $9,000 for my license and $250 for my boards and they want CMA's to do what I'm spending over $9,000 to do?! :angryfire This is horrible! I live in PA but going to school in NY and I planned on getting my NY license because it's a higher standard. I just can't believe the things they are doing to nurses!
