  1. I AM an L.P.N. with 39 years experience in nursing homes, hospitals: Ob, Ortho, Med-Surg, ER, Step Down, Pain Mgt.,Discharge Lounge. Also, Dermatology, Interal Medicine, Medical Records, Rehab., Private Duty, Nursing Service: in office and as staff. Plus doing ICD-9 & coding for Internal Medicine/Peds in 2 separate locations. I have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of except the fact that Medical Assistants are now being called nurses and THEY ARE NOT, they are just aides.
  2. Frankly I don't see the big deal. I graduated in 1969. White was the THING. I AM A NURSE. You can tell I am a nurse because I wear white. I am not an Aide, Enviromental Aide, Xray Tech, or Food Service Person, I am a Nurse. If the doctor wants to find me he looks for white, if the patient wants to find me he looks for white. When everyone started to wear scrubs (which are really cute) all disciplines looked ALIKE. How do you tell the nurse apart from everyone else? Because she wears WHITE. A sign of purity, helping, caring and compassion. Can you be all these in scrubs, yes, you can. Can the patient tell you apart, NO HE CAN't. See what I mean jelly bean. Stop whinning and wear white and be proud of our profession.

  4. :angryfire I have been an LPN for 36 years. For the last 20 I have heard talk of phasing out LPN's. When I read the local paper all I see is CNA, and CMA ads. For all my years I have been a charge nurse or in charge. just exactly what does the medical community think these largely untrained persons will take the place of LPN's and they won't have to pay them. Well, I hope and pray that this does not happen. Anyone out there agree. Or do you think LPN's should be phased out and there just be Rn's and cna's.
