  1. Btw, my family lived in that area. I don't have a professional opinion of the hospitals but from a patient family member standpoint, Tampa General stood out. Baycare hospitals are supposed to be really good too.
  2. I am applying to this area as well. I have just about one year experience in a small town hospital ICU and a year PRN at a psych hospital. I have gotten a call back from Tampa General. If I were you I would apply where you want to work most and see what happens. Also, I got emails updating my endorsement and what I was missing from the BON so you should also. Once I submitted the last item I had my license within 48 hours. I just looked on line by my name and my license number popped up. I got a letter in the mail shortly after.
  3. Also, two of my friends that graduated with my class were active duty Army....I can pass your contact info to them if you have specific questions. Send me a pvt message and I can send them your contact info.
  4. I just graduated from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. Many AMEDD students come here because it fits all of the criteria for the programs. Tuition, length, and pass rate (100% for the last 5 semesters). Fort Campbell is nearby which allows most military members a base to do needed things like physicals and what not. Also, the APSU program is well-versed in the paperwork required while in the program. http://www.apsu.edu/nursing/amedd-and-associated-programs
  5. I have heard that Centennial and Northcrest (in Springfield) have periodic new grad programs. Good luck!
  6. The program is great. The instructors are the same ones teaching in the classroom and on clinical rotations, and many of them still practice and/or are working on advanced degrees so they understand the demands on your time and are flexible. They still hold people accountable and make sure everyone learns though, so it is a good balance. You can email [email protected]. Her name is Danielle White and she is one of the online instructors and also an advisor so she should be able to answer any specific questions you have. Good luck!
  7. APSU requires stats, but they have it set up so that if you need a little extra help, there are tutors and a course that actually adds in an extra hour that builds your skills and helps you pass the course. If you can do chemistry, stats is possible. And I found statistics easier than college algebra. They let you use calculators!
  8. I go to the brick and mortar BSN program at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee. No chemistry required for the online or traditional program, and one of the highest NCLEX pass rates. Most of my teachers also teach the online courses and they are all great nurses and very supportive. I didn't want to take that class either and did well in A&P and microbiology. You learn enough chemistry for what you need in those classes. Good luck!
  9. B.A. in Economic Geography (1996). Should graduate with a B.S.N. in May 2012. Just curious to those that already have a 4-year degree and seek an A.D.N vs. BSN. My course of study would have been 2.5 years either way since some of my classes were out of date, so I chose the B.S.N. in order to be able to further my education later if I chose that path. Why choose the ADN?

Have you seen the show Combat Hospital? I am only a student nurse, so don't know much about the real workplace, but I love that the head nurse out ranks the doctors and he regularly tells them what to do!
  11. Ours was weighed in relationship to our GPA in pre-requisites (BSN program) but I have not met anyone that had lower than a 70 and was admitted. You can buy a study guide for pretty cheap that has some practice tests in it, which would tell you what areas you are weakest in. Then you could brush up on those areas. Good luck!
