  1. Beyond messed up. I am hoping that none of the nurses actually complied with this crazy guys demand because honestly that would be even more messed up if they did.
  2. Northwell has a lot of different hospitals. The pay actually varies depending on which hospital you are at. Some of their hospitals are unionized. The two big ones North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center are not unionized. If I am not mistaken the base pay at NSUH is slightly higher than LIJ. Keep in mind Northwell has more than just hospitals. They have Rehab facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, clinics. Really is a huge empire when it comes to health system. It might be easier to land a job at their sub-acute rehab facility, that is where my first job was.
  3. Hey there, I was recently offered a position at Winthrop hospital in mineola, ny. I was just wondering if anyone can provide me with any information regarding this hospital. I know they just recently attained Magnet status. Anyone know how their orientation is like? My only other RN experience has been a year at a Rehab facility, although from what other nurses told me, it runs like a med surg floor. I was just wondering on how the orientation is like at Winthrop. How administration or management treats their nurses. Are the nurses their relatively happy? Or is turnover rate high due to unhappy overworked RNs? Any info would be great. Thank you in advance.
  4. I had 2 classmates I know for a fact that were hired in ED as new grad RNs (we graduated together), one was at an HHC hospital.
  5. I was lucky that my table only had 3 other people. I actually got 2 whole minutes to sell myself to them. Good times..... Now imagine the guys who had 7 people on the table.
  6. Many thanks. I would send you a PM to thank you personally but it seems I am not yet able to do that. Thank you again.
  7. Honestly, I did not even know this existed.
  8. Do you happen to know the Fax number for stonybrook medicine HR?
  9. Oh I see, Man a rejection letter at least would be nice lol. Well if everything is starting Oct 7th then yes I assume that they have already chose everyone they wanted to interview. When did you do your interview son_she?
  10. Well I have yet to hear anything back and its nearing the end of september so I dunno maybe they already picked people for interviews, who knows
  11. Thank you for the information Jen. Yeah ADN and BSN generally don't get any pay difference, the hospitals here some might give 1500 extra if you have a bsn, nothing major. It is good to hear from someone that the job market is acceptable there though. Any more information from other people would be greatly appreciated. Kind of wanna get all the info before I make a decision like this. Thanks.
  12. I was just inquiring information on how the job market is in either Oklahoma City or Tulsa when it comes to a new graduate BSN. Really tough time here in NYC obtaining entry position as a new graduate so I was thinking about relocating. I know obviously the pay is less but so is cost of living; my main point is to come and get at least 2-3 years of experience. And a drop in pay compared to NYC does not really matter to me. However, does anyone know the starting rate for a new graduate nurse? Would be good to know. Thank you all ahead of time for the info.
  13. Thats a pretty common misconception, thats not how tax brackets really work. Everyone thinks that they get pushed to a higher bracket then they just end up losing the money or it ends up not being worth it. Keep in mind that tax brackets is exactly that: brackets. Your earned income up to the max for bracket 1 gets taxed at bracket 1. Your income at bracket 2 gets taxed at bracket 2. Assuming you are in the 25 percent tax bracket rate. Your whole income DOES NOT get taxed at 25 percent, only that portion that hits that bracket. Tax Fact: The Misconception of Being “Pushed Into a Higher Tax Bracket” I know this has nothing to do with the OPs question but I just noticed that most people are always believing in this myth so decided to just post this when I read it. As for the OP, 90k as a new grad. Even in NYC is unlikely unless you are working overtime, extra part time, or per diem job on the side.
  14. You can always leave after a year or two of experience. At that point you don't have to worry about competing with the new grads in NY as you have experience and are more preferable. Also if you get a certification that can only make things better. And you can always transfer to a magnet status hospital afterwards. Again I am not saying do not come to nyc but just make sure you secure a position before moving, unless you are ready to spend months looking when you get here.
  15. Its on the normal job postings, the one where you see regular job postings.
  16. September 8 or 7 pretty much like a week ago.
  17. I applied for this when I saw it pop up. I noticed that its no longer on the website. Anyone got an invite for an interview yet? Just wondering when they will decide to give out invitation emails for interview, or rejection for that matter. I was just curious seeing as we are mid-way through september and all. Also I have read here that in the past that people have had to do Head to toe assessments. I wonder how thorough do you have to be. I had to do a really comprehensive one for my health assessment lab in order to pass but I wonder if you do a quick version of it at the interview, would that be acceptable? Anyone that has been through the interview process that can shed some light and advice would be greatly appreciated.
  18. Honestly, the market here is over saturated with new graduates, I myself being one. There are lots of BSN schools here not to mention a decent amount of ADN as well. Some of the BSN schools even have accelerated programs. Therefore, every year there are new grads coming out by the boatload during fall, spring, and summer. Not trying to tell you to give up your dream but definitely get a guaranteed job before you decide to move here, do not come here and then hope to find something as it may take months. Have you considered just staying where you are for at least 2 years to get the experience down before moving here?
  19. Got quick results, totally failed. Well gonna take a few days off and study my ass off for round 2 I guess.
  20. I can't be 100 percent sure so hopefully someone from California can enlighten further. I thought Cali was one of the states that requires you to wait 90 days between tests and not 45. Again not sure but I remember reading this somewhere on the boards. Edit: Although I think you get the ATT pretty fast if not mistaken.
  21. PVT took me to CC page, according to everything I read I am fairly positive I failed. However, I did read a decent amount of people on here claiming false positives or passing when brought to CC page. But these posts do seem far and in between and the veracity of these claims has yet to be determined. So I am just assuming I failed but will update on here after 48 hours. Which will be Friday.
  22. So I went there to take my exam, I am known for finishing exams faster than others so long story short... The computer shut me down to the survey at 75 questions. Had a decent amount of SATA in the middle and a couple in the end. The last two questions I answered were priority questions (not sure if its important or not). Now all and all I probably spent an hour in the exam on those 75 questions. So an hour later when I get home, I tried the PV trick as everyone is telling me to do it (as in classmates). Well according to this I pretty much failed because it took me the CC page. And yes I checked to see if it was delivered successfully which it was. I mean I gotta admit I am feeling bummed out; not the end of the world mind you, but definitely bummed out. Worst part is because I was one of the top students in my university, every classmate I talked to kept saying "You are smart" and "You are a great test taker." And "There is no way you can fail." So this bums me out even more because now I kinda feel like a disappointment when expectations were there. So other than kaplan and saunders does anyone have any other suggestions for studying for my next go? I mean I still am going to check in 48 hours for quick results just to be sure but from what I read its almost definite that I failed sooo any advice would be appreciated.
