New ICU Nurse- Preceptor Problems
Going through some similar stuff. I had some issues with my preceptor just because we butt heads, I really liked my preceptor but the way we communicated and the way she read me wasn't good for either of us. Leadership (aka orientation manager) spent two days with me to check my practice, and yeah she helped me, but she, at the end was like "you're fine, you're on task and working on time management." I had a meeting with my orientation manager, talked it out, and had a good cry. I'm a smart guy with a lot on his plate in regards to patient acuity (we all have a lot on our plate). Keep your head up! This is hard work and you'll get acclimated. If you need to change units, work on time management then you'll find yourself doing it. Go with the flow, keep your patients at the top of your list, and be well.

Thomas Jefferson Pre-licensure BSN 2014
Hey there, I'm about to graduate from the BSN program (Traditional). Good luck with everything. They are starting to implement iPads into the classroom and if you're highly opposed to taking tests on an iPad that'll be your life for the next two years. They have fine-tuned a lot of it. The program was great, professors are always available, and the Jefferson "family" is a good one.

Issues and Trends
So, I have a paper to write and I am having a difficult time coming up with a topic to write about. I'll provide the prompt and perhaps I could get some ideas -- I'd be very grateful. It's a pretty general research topic but I find that I am better at topic ideas for other people as oppose to myself. Here's the prompt: Select an issue that impacts nursing and health care. Describe how the issue has impacted nursing practice. Describe how it has influenced or impacted the delivery of health care globally. P.S. Also, not looking for an answer to the questions just a topic idea. Thanks in advance!

Deciding Schools. Help Please
Yeah, I'm looking at Binghamton University which seems to have a nice program and it's CHEAP compared to some of these CRAZY private schools. I talked to a bunch of nurses about school names and almost all of them said no one cares as long as you pass your boards. Anyway, that's just what I've been told. I have done stupid amounts of research on different schools and all seems to have the same thing going for them, minus the price. thanks for the advice!

Pulled it Off! Marathon (5 week) General Inorganic Chemistry w/Lab
CONGRATS :yeah: !! It makes me so happy to hear that people are doing so well in these classes. I took Gen Chem I for nursing school and I still need to take Gen Chem II (Bio and Organic Intro) and I'm a bit nervous. I'm currently taking A&P II, it's six weeks long and I JUST finished with A&P I ( I got a 99.75). To say the least I kicked its ass!

I need some advice...please!
Hello, First off I would like to start by saying that I am VERY new to this website..about one hour old. So if there is a thread regarding my question, please by all means redirect me! I am currently taking A&P II during a six-week program that my community college offers, and yes, it is crazy and action packed. Most of my classmates are REALLY competitive as well (I don't get it). I digress, I am taking these science pre-reqs in hopes to transfer into a nursing program that will eventually allow me to receive my BSN and RN after I take my NCLEX. My dream school is Villanova, because of their BRAND NEW (three years) facilities and their job placements at CHOP , HOP and other Mainline Hospitals. They have credibility around the country as well. They have a really great 'mission' that they are there to help the needy and this is exactly WHY I am getting into nursing. I don't want to be a nurse for the job security, although it is a bonus, I am doing it because it's the only way I can imagine myself caring for people. Unfortunately, Villanova is 42K a year and as I may be a regular middle class 20 year-old, my parents and I just can't afford it (that's if there is no crazy scholarships). I have talked to advisors at Nova, and they said if I keep up my grades (3.89) that I will, 'with out a doubt,' get into their program. So that's a no go for now. Where I am running into a problem is figuring out whether or not the other school I am looking at is good. I am looking at Thomas Jefferson University, and although it seems nice and it's a big hospital school, I don't know how to gauge its credibility. The program is just about the same at Villanova's but I just can't but feel that Jefferson will provide me with a lesser education. Also, Jefferson's price is 33k. Please excuse my bluntness, I do not mean this in a brash way. I just want others' input. PLEASE by all means give me some info, or advice. It would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much for reading! -Dibbadee

Short semester A&P, kicking myself in the tush!!
I record the professor, make sure I stay in lab to study the material and look over the anatomy sections because our professors want us to know the anatomy on our own time. Anyway, I take notes (obviously), record, go home and copy the notes in a separate notebook. After I copy them I look over those notes briefly. When the test comes around (every Thursday) I take my notes and practice test and write notes cards. This allows me to study and have study material to go over. I make sure I look back at question I tripped up on worksheets etc.. I suggest getting Netter A&P Flash Cards. Also if you want other resources this is the SMALL book I use for A&P.. It's my bible for the course and I'm sure it can be of use to you. I pasted the link below, it's 7 bucks and it'll be worth it to you. http://www.amazon.com/Anatomy-Physiology-Essentials-Jay-Templin/dp/0878919228/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310089870&sr=8-1 GOOD LUCK! Show up to every class, put the work in and you'll be fine! :yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

PLEASE HELP!!!
Hey, I'm from the Montco area, and I know they have a great program. Competitive, but great. I would try to achieve my RN then go BSN. BUT, if you have the time and money I would shoot for a BSN. It takes about two years of gen-eds and science pre-reqs (A&P, Micro, Nutrition) to apply but it'll take an additional 2 years. All together it should take you four years if you go that route. I would call and talk to Montco to get a basic idea of how they work, and they can give you some advice. Good luck :) , Dib

Short semester A&P, kicking myself in the tush!!
Hey, I JUST finished with my A&P I (summer session) and I am currently in A&P II for summer session 2. It's a six week program and I absolutely LOVED it. I study everyday after class for about 2-4 hours, depending. Anyway, my advice, stick with it you'll be fine. The the previous person said teachers say that to scare the crap out of you and I agree. A&P is like a story and you have to be able to read and comprehend the story to REALLY get through the class. What's your program like, is it six weeks long? -Dib
