  1. It's just a matter of knowing what you should be prioritizing more, focusing more, and proper time management. If everything goes well, you'll still save that social life of yours! The most treasured friends I end up being with are my nursing friends. We create our social lives together!
  2. I'm going on my fourth year this coming school year. So far, I've LOST weight throughout my entire years of being in nursing school. lol I guess what they meant about "gaining weight" is that more often, nursing students are constantly studying... so studying is greatly associated with eating more food.
  3. You know what... you just have to know yourself, know what works for you. Whenever I study, I easily get distracted but I always tell myself that I have to focus more. And when I start studying or reading my textbook, I visualize what I understood. That's how I learn and remember things. And of course, I always have a snack time and bed time for myself. :) If you're sleepy, you better get some sleep rather than trying and forcing yourself to study because whatever you just read won't seep into your brain and you'll just end up forgetting about it hence, you just wasted you time.
  4. Sometimes, you don't need textbooks when you study bio (though it helps a lot!). I had an older version of my A&P textbook before but there wasn't that much of a difference though. Although you have to take note of the values more carefully since it changes too and you don't wanna screw that up. During exams, my professor would test us more based from "his notes". That's why I always make sure that I know what his notes focused more about.
  5. Well, all I can say is STAY FOCUS AND STUDY WELL ! :) Make sure you know your priorities and make sure that you also give yourself some breaks--having dinner with your loved ones, watch some movies in the theatre with friends, or have a friendly little chit-chat with your chums. I think that'll do!
  6. I think those kinds of issues are very common at "first" or at the "beginning" of your nursing program... but just watch. A lot of people fail in Nursing during the first few years in the program. Eventually, the numbers of nursing students left will gradually decline year after year. When you're in your third year of Nursing, you'll see people who are much more determined and I guess, "much more serious and smarter". Those people who are still surviving are the ones who take this program seriously (I hope). From my experience, this is what I am seeing... some people fail and the people who are still surviving sort of view this as "survival of the fittest". It's not a competition or anything like that.. it's more like having that kind of desire to get that degree and achieve something that they have worked hard for. P.S. I was frightened too when some people asked 'stupid/simple' questions. But hey, my clinical instructor told me that "no questions are stupid". So keep asking questions because that is how you learn. :)
  7. Mistakes are lessons learned! Be positive! Think of it as something that will help you improve yourself in the future. You will be a great nurse and I'm pretty sure about that!
  8. Honestly, bullying can never be eliminated. It's part of who people are and what they intend to do--to bring other people down. It's really frustrating and pretty disgusting. But hey, don't forget that karma's a b****. I strongly believe in that. That's why whenever I'm in my clinical (I'm a fourth year nursing student now), I just shut my mouth inside the workplace.. and rant outside the hospital, a way of de-stressing the disgusting gossips and bullying inside the unit.
  9. REPORT IT. It's pretty disgusting to see people who pass from cheating. Even if it gets them in the future, might as well bring that future NOW.
