LTC out
I am soo stressed! Working in an LTC facility as a newbie nurse. 37 patients. 10 accuchecks, standing orders, vs, med preferences, treatments, charting! I hardly ever leave on time! Ahhhh!! I'm mentally, physically, emotionally stressed out. Does it get better?!?

Electronic wrist bp cuffs
I agree that manuals are the most accurate.......but Im a newbie and have 37-43 patients. Most of the residents get highly agitated and don't even like their BP to be taken with electronic cuff. I'm slow as it is with med pass, TXs. Finish my 8am by 12 :/

new grad/ltc
I'm a new grad LPN and work in LTC. I had orientation-5days. I have 37 patients!!! Mentally, physically and emotionally stressful. My opinion, don't take it; not worth the stress!

Electronic wrist bp cuffs
I recently bought the Omron electronic BP wrist monitor, but find it to be somewhat inaccurate. Anyone else have this prob? What is a more accurate electronic BP monitor? I work in an LTC facility and need quick BPs Thanks

Lacharity for lpn
I did exam cram (found mistakes), lippincott. Not a big fan of exam cram.

Lacharity for lpn
I liked Saunders a lot! IMO-I thought that book prepared me the most. I took my test January 4th (passed on 1st try with min amount of Qs)

Lacharity for lpn
PDA is more geared twds RN but can be used for LPN as well. I used it ( more for the SATA Qs). Difficulty level of Qs is higher up. What books do u have?

New grad/new job
Thanks for the replies. 2nd day orientation today and all I can say it's not as bad as I thought it would be but most definitely organization is key. Med pass was not too bad just seemed like never-ending but with some speed and just learning residents-it will get better.

Job LTC
Yay 5th day :) May I ask how you organized your brain sheet? I know it varies but just an example. I'm thinking of doing one. I have 100+ patients to learn bc I will be working 3 nursing stations. So I definitely need to stay on top and organized I am the same way as in need things laid out a certain way to start getting it

New grad/New job
I will be starting my first job in LTC setting. YaY! I have orientation (1 week) and then pretty much on my own-40 patients plus 2-4 CNAs. I will be in charge of new admits, meds, wound care, schedules... Oh My! It's a little nerve wrecking and intimidating to me. Does it get easier with time? 1week is kind of a short time to orient a new grad. I'm a newbie and basically wanna know the ins and outs. What should I be careful with, aware of, what should I have/take with me, etc... Thanks :)
