  1. Hi everyone! I have finished 2 classes so far, NVT2 and QLC1. I hope to be done with QMC1 within the next 2 weeks. Things are going great! My mentor is really nice as well. Glad to see everyone is doing ok so far. :)
  2. I live in West Covina! I spoke to my mentor today and she said to start getting ideas for the Community Health Practicum since we live in California, a regulated state. Have you given any thought to this yet? PM me with your email so we can talk privately. :)
  3. Hi guys! Just wondering... is anyone from Southern CA?
  4. Hi rnrules11! I am starting on Wednesday with you. I am scheduled to speak with my mentor tomorrow. :)
  5. So glad to hear this!!!!
  6. Hi everyone! I'll be starting on 8/1 as well! Hopefully we can all help each other through the program!
  7. Thank you E_star07! I can't believe you are still waiting... Ugh! I hope you get the phone call soon so that you'll be closer to your start date. I'll let you know about my experience, I hope it will be a good one... Hehe. I'm still somewhat of a new grad. I've worked as an RN in Med/Surg for 9 months and as an LVN in Med/Surg for 2 years but I have never worked in Peds before! Definitely gonna be a new and exciting experience. :)
  8. I just got the phone call! Someone declined their position so I get to start on March 1st! See you there! :)
  9. @RN,BSN,PHN- When is your start date?
  10. Omg Yayyyy!!! Finally! Lol. When they called what did they say? I can't wait for my phone call. :)
  11. Awww... that sucks! I don't like calling too much cuz I always hear the same thing... Budget, budget, budget... I would appreciate it more if they checked to see what was going on with each individual person. If it has to do with the budget per unit, then at least they could have some small idea which group of new hires could start next. I'm sorry, RN, BSN, PHN. Wish your conversation with them could have been more informative. I used to work in Med/Surg at a hospital nearby, but when I got pregnant my husband and I decided that I should stay home and take care of our kids. I have a 3 year old (just turned 3 a few days ago) and a 9 month old baby. I am enjoying my time with my children. Other than that, not much but waiting on a start date like everyone else.
  12. I think the whole process took 8-9 weeks (from Live Scan to physical to being cleared). After I did my Live Scan, it took 5 weeks to get called for the physical. Hang in there! :)
  13. I called last week and I'm supposed to be on Peds.
  14. When I called, it has always been about the budget. My favorite line is, "We are waiting right with you." Ummm.... No you are not. You didn't even ask me my name. And you have a job and I don't. Lol. Anyways if you want to work for County, it will be a long wait. It will eventually be worth it. So far, from applying, I have been almost 9 months in the process. I hope to get a start date before my 12 month mark. Hopefully they bring us on soon!*Sorry if there are any mistakes, I'm on my phone.
  15. Omg since August?!? I was cleared second week of December... Have u followed up with Nurse Recruitment?
  16. Hey guys! Anyone getting called for a start date yet?
  17. I'll be in Peds but will have to float to med/surg as needed. Hope i can float to NICU. Hehe, I would love to be in NICU. :)
  18. Yay E_star07!! Maybe we will get the same orientation date with HR! Congrats I'm so happy for you!! Maybe we will see each other around!
  19. That is absolutely wonderful news! We will continue to pray for you and hope for the best!
  20. Wow! Sounds like it went great! I didn't get to take a tour so I've been wondering what it looks like up there. Haha! So if hired, will you be in the PICU? I'm so happy for you! Good luck and hopefully you get the call soon!
  21. No calculations. You might have one question where you have to state the necessary interventions like a code for example. Be confident in your answers and I'm sure you'll do great! Good luck, again! Let us know how it goes.
  22. Hi and welcome E_star07! I was hired to work for Peds, but like everyone else I am still waiting for a start date. It is pretty much the same as the civil service exam... basic interview questions. Ex. Tell me about yourself, strengths/weaknesses and why Peds? Think also about some critical situations and what you would do. No two interviews are the same though. They always have new questions, but those are the basic ones they will probably ask. I interviewed with the DON and she was really nice. Good luck and hope we get to work together.
  23. Hi nemzski, congrats and hope you get to start soon. I was cleared by Employee Health today and when I went to Nurse Recruitment, I got the same thing... "It's all about the budget... We'll give you a call... Blah blah blah." Lol it's okay though, she said I would definitely be starting within 6 months. :rotfl:
  24. Thanks for your response Volunteerpioneer! Get plenty of rest and hope your work week goes well!
  25. Nemski, sorry to hear that. Hope they call all of us to start soon. What unit will you be in? Also, to anyone that has completed their physical, can you tell me the step-by-step process please? For example, I'm going in on Monday. What will I be doing that day and how many times will I have to come back in order for my physical to be completed? Thanks in advance!
