I agree Saunder's comprehensive review is a good book. I like that they have separate sections and the end of each chapters for the drugs related to that topic.

supplies
A good supply to purchase would be a NCLEX book. I wish I would have bought one in my first semester of nursing school. It will help you focus on what's important If you go through the related chapters before you read your textbooks. Also it will help you adjust to the critical thinking type questioning style you will see on tests from your instructors

Med-Surg
Does anyone have any advice for studying med-surg especially Neuro? I was one of the only 15% of students that passed last semester but I barely, barely made it with a 77%. I usually get A's & B's but i feel like this past semester was so difficult. Now I am starting the second half of med surg in a week and I am feeling overwhelmed. Advice stat.

I've probably just lost it all....
This was your first semester. Sometimes it takes a while to adjust to the critical thinking questions. Just keep studying and practice nursing style questions.

How do you handle family and school?
sometimes if I am doing homework on the computer I will let my son sit on my lap and adjust a you tube screen in a small corner of the computer screen so he can watch nursery rhymes and I can do my work.

San Jacinto College LVN Competitive?
I think you would have a pretty good chance of getting in. I turned in my app at another school and there yesterday and the secretary said they get about 120 applications and only select about 60. They base it on Hesi scores.

Houston Community College LVN Program
For HCC you do have to take the TEAS test and 2 prereqs (nutrition & AP) to apply. The TEAS is a reading, science, math, and english/grammar test.

Houston Community College LVN Program
@mochachild I am coming home in the afternoon checking my mailbox looking for an acceptance letter. Sometimes I go to the mailbox twice a day or I wait for the mailman. He probably thinks I lost my mind and maybe I have. All of us applicants are now playing the waiting game! Good luck with your responses and congrats on your TEAS!!

going to apply to san jac south lvn program
Good Luck to all applying. I was thinking about applying for fall but many people have told me their clinical sites are located all over Houston & surrounding areas. I may still apply there if I don't get in my first choice. I am already finishing my associates at San Jac this summer. How was the HESI? I took the TEAS and wonder how it compares to that test.

Houston Community College LVN Program
I just finished prereqs for this program spring 2011 and lets just say most of the people that started class with me did not pass or dropped out. I applied and am waiting to hear something. How did you like the program, Mochachild? I would honestly prefer to be in a harder program in order to be a more competent nurse.
