  1. Since the semester is almost coming to an end how was the first semester of LPN school and the clinicials?..is everybody still in the program that started on the first day?
  2. Before you enroll in your HIM progam please go to www.CAHIIM.org to make sure your program is accredited. It is important that you will be attending an accredited HIM program so that after graduation you can sit for the RHIT or RHIA exam depending if its an associates or bachelors program. Yes there are a lot of HIM jobs out there. It is important to be credentialed so that you will have more job options in this field. Especially medical coding...and with the new ICD-10 classification system being implemented in 2013 we will need more coders. You just have to figure out what part of HIM you are interested in which I'm sure you will figure out when you take your classes. Also check out www.ahima.org it also a lot of information with the careers options in HIM.
  3. It isn't only eastern NC that are hiring new and/or experienced nurses but they are also hiring nurses throughout the entire state. NC consist of the mountains, flat lands, and coast and we need nurses in all of these areas. If you want to move to the mountains, you can find a nursing job around asheville, if you want to live in the flat lands you could find a nursing job around charlotte, winston-salem, greensboro, raleigh, fayetteville, if you want to live in the coast/beach you could find a nursing job around elizabeth city, wilmington, new bern. there are several va hospitals (asheville, durham, charlotte, fayetteville) & major teaching/research hospitals (duke, unc, wake forest, east carolina)..A lot of people move to NC from up north or down south, especially from Florida whether it may be in the mountains or the coast..so there is definately a need of them!!
  4. What kind of things do they ask for on the application?...How do they tally up points?...Do they give extra points if you have your CNA certification, CNA work experience, extra classes you've taken other than PSY 110, BIO 163, ENG 111, etc.
  5. Violet and Kaylen, thank you for responding with that helpful information. I did not know that BIO 155 would be given more points since it was not outlined in the GC PN curriculum outline. Are there any other courses that would be given additional points if taken other than PSY 110, BIO 163, and ENG 111? Would NUR 118 still be required to be taken if one already took BIO 155? Is there a seperate application for the practical nursing program that needs to filled out?
  6. Onmyway, you mentioned that you took a nutrition class. Was it the NUR 118 nutrition/diet therapy course? I didn't apply for the fall 2011 PN but would like to know if I could take NUR 118 during the fall semester. Thanks!
