CSN RN Spring 2013
I believe there was someone who said they were an alternate and they had 24 points. I had 27....

CSN RN Spring 2013
From my past 3 years of experience going to CSN, only one thing is certain... Nothing ever stays the same. There are always things that change. :)

Care plans are taught/learned all throughout the semester. In my opinion, the class isn't that important to take if you have the math skills already. You practice the nursing care plans in clinical... You will be fine even if you don't take the class.

CSN RN Spring 2013
They said the two orientation dates are an all day event. She told me they run from 8 till 3 most likely.... I am planning on going to get my packet first thing so I can go on with our Halloween plans with the kids. :)

CSN RN Spring 2013
First semester classes won't be available for registration till after second orientation. Even Pharm was not available till after second orientation because everything is based on which nurs101 class you take since your nurs 101 dictates most of your other days of clinical and lab. You can always take lectures on line but it depends on your learning style. Personally, I like the classroom. :) I do wish I had taken the tool box because they help with dosage math and care plans. If you have time, I think the tool box class can def be a huge help. I am contemplating about signing up. Books are crazy expensive.... I shopped at amazon the first time but they are all out dated, I'm sure. So, I will have to repurchase... Yuck!

You have to go to the first orientation and then at second orientation is when you can sign up for classes. They make you draw a number when you arrive at the second orientation and then you go in that order to sign up for classes. The classes are clumped together. If you take Nurs 101 on Monday, that class comes with what ever day of clinical and etc. At least that was the way it was back in 2011. :) Enjoy your time and don't stress about that yet! :)

CSN RN Spring 2013
Wow! You all are really giving me so much info. I haven't been on here for a day and there are like 3 more pages of conversations. LOL I just wanna say that only the ones that get in get a phone call. If you didn't make it in, you get a letter in the mail. No call will be made to those who didn't make the cut. SOoooooo, if your phone rings from CSN, you have a spot!! I will have to say though, I would so answer it, even if I was at work or driving. Just have your headset/blue tooth on. The first time I got accepted, I got the call around 1pm ish... Good luck everyone. I am so nervous....

CSN RN Spring 2013
I would not count on next week only because every semester is different. :) That said, it would be awesome if they made the calls next week. The dosage calculation test is not super hard unless you just don't understand algebra. That test is given only after they teach you how to do it the entire week. I think we all need to calm down and just focus on getting a call first before we get all crazy about the dosage calculations test. I was in the program before so I am telling you that you can do it. It is nothing more than algebra, and they go over it with you all week long. You all have done well this far so have faith in yourselves! :)

That really bites! I was not getting my hopes up but was secretly hoping to get a call earlier than the end of the month. Yikes!

CSN RN Spring 2013
That is what I had done the first time I got in. That is exactly what you will need. :)

CSN RN Spring 2013
Nothing is for certain and therefore, you have a good reason to be anxious. I mean this for all students and not just you. :) But the great thing is that there is only a few more weeks before they start calling the students. Keep your fingers crossed. :) Oh the shots, you will be having a new student orientation and then they tell you all that you need. The chances are that you have already had your shots if you went to school in the US, so you gotta track down your shot records. Some shots are 3 series of shots spread out throughout a 6 month period so they just want to see that you started those. You will have to sign up for CPR. This process takes a while. When I did it the first time, I applied for fall so I had all summer to do everything. I think timing will be more important this time since we find out and there is only 2.5 months in between and lots of holidays with it. Good luck!!

Just letting you know, they do go over what you need to know before they make you take the dosage calculation test. If you can do algebra, you can do the dosage calculation test. I am not saying it's easy...I am just saying they won't make you take the test without giving you all the tools you need first. :) I got all my books from Amazon for my first semester and I saved more than 300 bucks compared to the price they were charging at the campus book store "bundle" pricing. You can get every single item on the list from on line sources except that check list which is exclusively for CSN students only. By the way, this waiting is so painful...

Try amazon and eBay before you pay full price for books. I would also recommend renting your books. :). Way cheaper that way!

You should never feel too old. Challenges come all through out life in all different measures. What would life be without new beginnings and adventures? Go for it and good luck! :)

CSN RN Spring 2013
The book list is given at the new student orientation once you hear that you made it through. It probably wont be till some time in Nov. I would just go on line and look up nursing theory but without the actual book that they tell you to buy, it will be time wasted just to read up anything. This is of course my opinion. I think looking over anatomy and physiology stuff will be a big help though. :) Learn to take blood pressure if you have a stethoscope and a cuff. I would say get a really good stethoscope (cardiac one) cause it helps big time to be able to hear and later on you will need one. Get ready for lots of money spending for health check, immunizations and CPR class. None of it is covered under insurance..

CSN RN Spring 2013
Hey everyone. I am a second time applicant to the nursing program. I withdrew in Oct 2011 due to spousal deployment but the time has come to finish what I started. The workload is a lot. I will say that if you can get a head start on reading, you should. I applied with 28 points the first time but as a second time applicant, they do deduct 1 point, so this time around I am competing with 27 points. I have my fingers and toes crossed! :) I know some of you are hoping for Oct 15 but I will say you probably will hear back at the end of the month. I know that everyone is under the impression that since not as many students applied, the answer should come sooner but the later I expect an answer, the better it will be if the news should come sooner...(that is if I make it in). Let me know if anyone has any questions. I don't know much but if anyone is curious, I did go almost half way through the first semester. Happy waiting!

CSN Fall 2011 rn program
Is anyone considering the on line lecture for the first semester for nurs 101 and 125?? I see they are offering more on line classes. Any thoughts for anyone who already took the on line class??
-
CSN Fall 2009 Nursing 1st Semester Questions
did anyone take the on line courses offered for nurs 101 or 125?? I am wondering how the on line courses work and if I would be a good candidate to take the on line class instead of in class. Anyone with any insight, please comment. Thanks.
