Hello all, I hope you are all safe and well if you can read this. I am a nurse in Northern Va and I wanted to know what I can do to help. I would like to donate my nursing skills and abilities to those that can use them if anyone knows of an organization or location in the areas impacted. If there is no healthcare assistance needed what else can we do as a community to help besides just donating money. I am sure I am not the only nurse who would like to help so feel free to share whatever information you might have. Thanks! Noel

I am officially PRN staff but work full time hours and am attempting to work full time hours as long as I can to help finance my schooling. I plan on cutting back if/when I feel like I need more study time. It sounds like that may come quickly!

I think I am going to go to Ohio University since I want to have the most options available after I graduate and it sounds like the FNP would do that for me. Has anyone been through Ohio's FNP program already? I have 11 graduate credits already, Theories, Research, and Healthcare Policy that they are currently reviewing. Does anyone know if they usually accept transfer credits? Does that allow you to graduate earlier or do you just take less classes those semesters? Also, how many credits per semester do most students do full time? How much study time is actually required per class? I asked a lot of these questions of the admissions counselor but I seem to only get one answer for every 4 questions so I would love feedback from someone who has been through it. Thanks guys!

Hello, So I got into Ohio University's FNP program and I also got into Wilkes University's Adult NP program both for the Fall. Does anyone know if one school is better than the other? Also, how about any pro's/con's of FNP vs ANP? My goal is to work in the ED as an NP if it helps. Thanks!

Thanks for the response and that is helpful to know. I couldn't find anything about them on the AANP website and since I haven't been able to get a hold of my BON, I have been nervous of getting through the program and finding out it doesn't count here. If anyone else has experience with them please share them if you don't mind! Thanks! :)

Can anyone tell me about their program. I know they are fairly new, are they legit? What BON's accept them? I called mine (Virginia BON) and was forced to leave a message and was never called back. Last I had heard on the blog was that there were people in the program but no one had graduated yet. Is this still the case? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

The schools I had planned on going to didn't require it and I am afraid if I rush into doing it just to meet a quick deadline I will get a poor score just because I rushed it. That's the only reason. I thought for sure since I had a decent GPA I would have gotten into at least one of the three picks I had but it just didn't turn out that way.

Hello, I am looking for either an Acute Care or Family NP online program that does not require the GRE and the deadline has not passed yet. I am a little frustrated as I have applied to 3 different programs already with no luck and really am eager to get started. Please let me know and if anyone has any advice I am open to it. BTW, my BSN GPA is 3.39. Thanks!

They changed their policies the end of last year so you can only get these benefits after a year of working for GW. Be very careful if you use either plan, they both require a time commitment of at least a year from the date that you recieved the money and I believe it is two years if you do the 90% pay for GW. If they do not have a position available for you in what you got your degree in, they have the right to keep you as a RN for your time committment. Read the info carefully before you sign. It is a great deal, but just know what you are signing!
