  1. Hey Bronze: Are all of the schools on the list approved online schools for New York State because I do not see where it says New York Approved on the list?
  2. Hi Pac: I am in New York where are you from? I have had the same problem. The only online program in NY I have found is Stony Brook and they only offer Adult Nurse Practitioner. I also have contacted my BON and they are not very helpful. They said there are only 2 approved for NY which are Samford and Frontier. What I do not understand is that I have taken my BSN online at ASU in Colorado and they are CCNE accredited (ASU is not on the approved list in NY) and so are most of the other online programs for FNP. Does anyone know why and what is the criteria for a program to get approved?
  3. Futureeastcoat: Thank you so much for the information!! The problem I am having is that I work as a school nurse and my hours are 8am-3pm. I am worried about clinicals and when I will be able to do them. Fortunately I am off for the months of July and August but that does not seem to help. When school is in session I must be here so applying for time off every week would be denied.
  4. Hello LLama: I do know there are 2 programs approved they are Samford and Frontier but they are Family Nurse Practitioner programs. I am only interested in Adult Nurse Practitioner.
  5. Does anyone know any Online Adult Practitioner programs that are approved in New York besides Stonybrook University?
  6. Hello a.houtrouw: Did you get the names and editions of the books for patho, pharm and health assessment. I plan on going for the fall 2014 fingers crossed.
  7. Tyloo: Your study habits are similar to mine. I would tape index cards all over my home. I would study while brushing my teeth at times!! it does work.
  8. Hello hiessien: Thank you for the info. How is it going for you with your clinicals. I work 7:30am to 3:30pm and am worried when it comes to clinicals how I am going to fit the time in. Are the books for patho pharmacology and Health assessment the same? For Patho I have McCance & Heuthers 6th edition For Pharm I have Edmunds & Mayhew 3rd edition For Health asses I have Bickley & Szilagyi 10th ed I would like to get a head start on reading.
  9. I live in Brooklyn, New York. I am going to apply to Samford and Frontier. Thank you so much for your help I appreciate it. It has been difficult navigating this process especially dealing with NY nursing board to figure out what universities are approved. Another problem is that I work Mon-Fri 7:30-3:30 and am worried about scheduling clinicals. I am off for the months of July and August which is a plus.
  10. Hello robbnp22: I was wondering how the lectures are structured at Samford. Do they have discussion questions or are they recorded lectures that the student watches?
  11. Yes thank you that I what I meant. I am taking my BSN online and there are not any streamed live lectures which makes it very boring.
  12. Can you suggest some online programs in New York that have live lectures?
  13. Thank You and good luck too you!!
