  1. We will have some time for review, but not a ton. I have been looking for a job, any job, for 2 years without luck. So that option for a car isn't possible. I'm not sure if I will be able to get any student loans, let alone enough for a car. I hope this all works out.
  2. Obviously you will need to have everything your school requires. When I was in the LPN program, I found these items helpful (or would have found them helpful if I would have spent the money on them). 1. Good shoes 2. Clipboard for clinical 3. Large calendar for fridge to keep everything straight 4. Many pens (make sure you have at least 2 with you) 5. Notebooks, big and small 6. Cooler/lunchbox 7. Containers to bring food 8. A good sized bag, one on wheels would be beneficial. 9. Healthy food 10. Highlighters, note cards, paperclips, hole punch, stapler, printer (ink/paper) My shoes weren't good, I didn't have a clipboard (other people did and it looked like it was easier than holding a bunch of papers, I lost a lot of pens, my bad was too small, I never ate breakfast, and rarely ate lunch (which I bought at the clinical site). I didn't need the general office supplies (other than the printer) but I know a lot of people benefit from them.
  3. Assuming I get everything in on time, I will be accepted into the LPN to RN program this Fall. I have mixed feelings about it but overall I think this is the best thing for my career. I graduated from the LPN program in 2011 and I have been unable to find work, so I am out of practice. I was told the LPN program was very hard, but I didn't find it to be that bad. I am hoping I will feel the same about the RN program. That being said, how should I prepare? I am taking my last prerequisite right now, but I feel like I should do something to help the program be less stressful. Any sites that offer review for free or any other ideas? My main concern really is my lack of transportation. I have no clue how this is going to workout because I need a way to get to and from school and clinical and I have no money. I am hoping I can get enough loans and scholarships to make it work. Any advice on this?
  4. $5,900 for classes and clinical. This does not include extra expenses (immunizations, scrubs, equipment.) However my financial aid covered it all and I got some back.
  5. My list gave a general list of things and optional items, however I later found out that they actually required some of the optional items.. So here's what I use. Notebooks, 1 binder (get a good quality one because mine is broken and I am mad), folders, post its, pens and pencils, hole punch, paperclips or a stapler, stethoscope, penlight, bandage scissors, gait belt, note cards for meds ( you can buy premade ones but I heard they dont always have all the info).. I cant think of anything else except scrubs and white shoes.
  6. im a student and i have d/c 3 of them. however i was instructed to do so, so Idk if you can decide to on your own
  7. Sem 1 Foundations of Nursing Mental Health I cant remember the name of it but it was easy it was just about general nursing concepts? Clinical LAB Pharm 1 Lets see I had clinical monday 7a-3p, tuesday i had lab that was about 4hrs, wednesday i had the easy class and the mental health. I was there about 3.5hrs. Thursday I had Foundations from 8-11, then 1hr off, then from 12-2 pharm. Half way through the semester the easy class turned into math. It was also easy. Sem 2 Medical surgical nursing Pharm 2 Maternal Child Nursing Clinical 2 Wednesday I go to school from 8am- 530pm. Thats 4hrs med surg, 1hr break, 2hr pharm, 30min break, 2hr maternal child. Thursday and Friday I have clinical from 7a-330p. I do not work.
  8. The program- I guess it depends on 2 things: 1) the program 2) your past educational history/ intelligence. - I dont think my program is that hard ( I better not regret saying this.) I do well and I rarely study. However MANY if not all of my fellow students seem overwhelmed and find it to be difficult. I dont even think I am that smart. I DID go to a private high school, and they all seem to have went to a public school, so maybe thats it. Boards: Everyone says they are very hard. Everyone says the program is hard. I haven't taken it yet, so I cant say if like the program, I think its not bad. But I think it will be hard because they have us take ATI exams which are nclex based and i do terrible. Lots of studying is needed.
