I don't remember WSU ever having "well rounded students" in the entry criteria. Getting an interview here is ALL about the GPA. You're grades are not the problem or you would not have gotten the interview in the first place. The interview process is used to weed out people who lack the "right" personality to be a nurse, people who don't really want to be a nurse, people who can't carry on a conversation with others, people who don't dress/act professionally, etc. There are many "non-traditional" students attending WSU CON. You not getting accepted has absolutely nothing to do with that. Don't give up if nursing is your dream, but you probably could work on that attitude. Based on your post, you sound arrogant and as if you think you are entitled to a spot. If I were you, I'd think really hard about your interview and how you presented yourself and see if there is something you could have done differently. You might even ask the people who interviewed you if there is something you could have done better.

Maybe if you start by asking the parents what the impact has been on the family, something they tell you will inspire your creativity. Perhaps they can even provide you with photographs & you could make a photo collage or something.

You're protecting yourself, as well as patients, when employing proper hand hygiene. why on earth wouldn't people want to do that? anyway, I think what the other posters have said about having hand gel readily available and a consistent educational focus/policy helps a great deal. Hospital visitors really appreciate the hand gel dispensers we have located on just about every wall too.

I agree! I think he should report this too. It's inappropriate, unprofessional and a HIPPPA violation as has been stated. Whatever her consequences are for this, it's not his problem. The fact that she persisted even after he told her he wasn't interested, indicates she has a serious problem. I hope he reports her.

I keep track of every calorie I eat in a Iphone app and exercise 5 days a week. I will get up at 0400 & get the workout in before I start the day just to make sure it happens. If I wait until later, I'm too tired or too busy. Always bring your own healthy food for meals & snacks. Eat lots of raw veggies & fruits & lean protein. If you feel you need to munch while studying, make sure its something like apple slices, raw carrots, etc. There is no reason to gain weight in nursing school. And just say no to the sweets that seem to be everywhere. I just tell myself they are poisen & poisen is bad for me. Also, it helps me to think that part of a nurse's job should be setting a good example for our patients as many of them have weight related health problems.

What I get from reading your post is that you are indeed an intelligent person and are very capable of getting probably better grades than you're even getting now. I believe you can do anything you want and be anything you want. Therein lies the problem, I think, in this case. The problem is you are doing what others want you to do rather than following your heart and nurturing your passion. You probably don't understand nutrition because your heart is just not in it. I truly believe a person can never be fulfilled and happy in trying to live others' dreams. Find your passion and live your own life. Its ok if it takes a while to figure out what that is, but in the meantime, do whatever you want to do, do what makes you happy, not what your family thinks you should do. They will still love you even they don't understand you and that is ok. Good luck!

I agree with the posters recommending finishing nursing school. It will be a sacrifice & it will be tough but you should be better off in the end. The economy is bound to get better, it always does (I'm older and have experienced this type of thing many times), and you'll have more options. If you were to get divorced, he should be paying child support so that will help. Also, there may be financial aid you qualify for if you're a divorced mom & in school. Look into all those possibilities too. My sister had 1 child and was divorced. She was able to get all her school paid for, daycare assistance and medical care for her child - all for free! you could look on their websites. a lot of employers now post all the open jobs on their website & they usually say what the minimum requirements are for a particular job. they all say BSN in my city and I think that is generally the trend these days but maybe not in all areas.

In my former career I was the person doing the hiring, interviewing applicants, etc. If I interviewed someone and never heard from them again, I assumed they were not really interested in the job and I never hired those people. A thankyou note or follow up letter a few days after the interview was expected. It shows you're interested in the job and have basic professional courtesy skills. One phone call a week or so later, is appropriate in my opinion. However, it was very annoying and did not make a good impression when applicants called repeatedly. It sounds to me you have done everything just fine in this situation. The hard part now is the waiting. Good luck to you!

It sounds to me you are infusing your personal values/morals into that question and medical professionals should not do that. Our job is to provide sound medical advice and educate our patients. The answer to that question is clearly D.

I think its doable but you will have to be very organized. I am not working now but I do have kids to take care of. I am currently taking the third quarter of A&P, Biochemstry and Microbiology. That's a big load: 3 tough science classes all with labs. I just stay on top of everything and I literally do nothing other than study. I have 4.0's in all my classes & I just got accepted into my nursing program so its all been worth it. You really can do anything you set your mind to. And again, the key to success is organization.
