resume & cover letter-- awful or awesome?
Replace "I am writing to express my interest in the position of graduate nurse at MyTown Hospital" with... Please consider me for the position of graduate nurse at ..... (more direct, we all know you are writing and interested) Replace "From my experience and speaking to current employees at MTH, I feel that I would be a good fit for the graduate nurse program in critical care." After acquainting myself with the staff and orienting to the MTH facilities during clinicals, I feel that I would be a good fit for the graduate nurse program in critical care. (the previous sentence doesn't flow well) If you want to pick up some more skills in business writing, check out the pyramid style. I felt that it has helped me get my message across more clearly. Good luck with your job search!

UTA FALL 2012
I got called off the waiting list last night. Turned it down. (Going to TWU Dallas instead) So someone should be getting a call this morning. And your welcome!

UTA FALL 2012
As for public universities offering BSNs, don't forget about TWU Dallas campus and also the Denton campus. The TWU weekend program is a great alternative to UTA. They also don't over promote the program like UTA does.

TWU Fall 2012 Weekend Program & Traditional
Hi, I am also applying for Fall 2012. Does anyone know if they will accept Pharmacology from either UTA or El Centro? The adviser was supposed to get back with me, but I don't think she will in time for me to register. Thanks!

UTA Spring 2012
Hi everybody. I found this program to be somewhat shady when I dealt with the advisers. So I did a little research and found that the program is marketed by a private company called Academic Partnerships http://www.academicpartnerships.com/Home.aspx They receive from 50-80% of the money students spend on the online courses according to this article. http://www.dallasnews.com/news/education/headlines/20110605-several-texas-colleges-are-using-private-recruiters-for-online-classes.ece This is probably the reason why it is so hard to get straight answers from the advisers. I know many people were NEVER told about the importance of working at a partnered facility. The advisers made it seem that if you made the grades, you would be competitive. However, I believe only 10 un-partnered applicants were accepted last fall, and now it seems even many of the partnered applicants who were pretty much guaranteed by advisers that they would get in if they did well, are not getting in. The lack of transparency and the conflict of interests seems to border on fraud. It is a shame because, from what I hear, the actual nursing program is great. I know this program is working out great for some people, but many were conned out of quite a bit of money.

You really think nurses make alot of money? Let me give you something to think about
I'm confused. Who exactly has that high payed job that has little responsibility, cushy atmosphere, and high pay? Now I know there are some pretty lazy high payed government employees, but those jobs are few and far between. Who wants that job anyways. Sounds boring and lame to me. Maybe you think life would be great as a lawyer. Oh ya. Everybody loves those guys. Maybe an engineer. Sure he/she makes more than a nurse but might have to work 70 hour weeks and be out town for months on end. I bet the kids don't mind daddy/mommy being gone all the time. The mail delivery guy is making around $27? You gotta be kidding me. And the plumber. You dang right he deserves more than $27. It takes years and years to even become a master plumber. Same goes for a construction worker. Its not an easy job. I know because I've done it. They deserve high wages for their high skill. I don't think they are less skilled than a nurse, who only has to go to school for two years. In the U.S., if you have a household income of $56,000 (appx $27 working full time), you are doing better than 60% of households. Now, I know most of you have a husband or wife that works so your household income is most likely closer to $100,000, so that means your doing better than 84% of households. Now, lets get to the root of the complaint. The bottom 99% are not making as much money as they should. That's because too much of the money in our economy gets sucked up and redistributed to the top 1%. In case you didn't know, overall wages have remained flat in the U.S. since the beginning of "Reaganomics" and "deregulation" almost 30 years ago.

do employers look down upon those who earned their bsn online?
Just curious, do you plan on moving to the DFW area? The clinicals for the UTA program are not online. They are done at local partnering hospitals. Also, the program is intended to make nursing education more available to local people who are not able to attend classes on campus. The grant (from the state of Texas) that jump started the program was specific for this purpose. Another interesting thing on their website is that they give preference to past graduates from UTA who are seeking a second degree. Luckily, I am in that category, although I have not been accepted yet. Still have a few prereqs to go. I am not trying to discourage you at all. I just wanted to make sure you knew this info about the program.
