I am also caught up in the interview process with Fl Hosp. I went down for the experience RN career fair in May and had a successful interview with the HR person. I was to interview with the unit manager when the HR person noticed I had an ADN and said they couldn't hire ADN RN's at this time due to magnet stuff. I was devastated. I spent $$ to fly down for the interview and search for housing. Then, I got a call for another position that I had applied for at FH. I had a telephone interview, which went well. I am scheduled for another interview. I'm anxious, as the cost of flying down TWICE is astronomical, especially when preparing to move as well! I know FH was offering substantial sign on and relocation bonuses for ICU Rn's but this particular position isn't in an ICU, so I don't know if there will be a bonus offered. I also have an interview set up with ORMC. Wishing everyone here luck with your interviews/start dates.

Sounds like my lab was. I left there nearly 3 years ago, mainly because anybody off the street who walked into the lab was mixing and giving drugs, supposedly under the doctor's license. We had one girl who was a patient transporter who became a tech!!! After seeing many non-nursing personnel make SERIOUS drug errors, I was scared to death. One girl mixed adenosine in a 1 mL syringe when it was supposed to go into a liter bag of NS, and pretty much refused to acknowledge she messed up, even after 30 seconds of asystole and the MD going WHAT DID YOU JUST GIVE ME??? Anyway, I got off topic. Yes, our management was attempting to strong arm everyone into taking RCIS. They were going to reimburse you once you passed the exam, which many people didn't. I never attempted.

:eek: OMG I can't IMAGINE taking that much call! I thought I took a lot, I usually took 1-2 nights a week and one weekend a month. Our call requirements were 1 weekend and 5 weekdays every 6 weeks, but bonus call was lucrative so I signed up.

Typically you don't want to put tape on a baby's skin. It can cause serious skin tears, etc. In most of the places I've worked, we can't tape directly to the skin for ANY reason. We use velcro restraints when femoral access is needed, similar to what is used for circumcisions. However, ideally a baby should be sedated or anesthetized.

Enfermera, I would LOVE to hear some company suggestions! I'm also a NICU RN, with some Cath lab thrown in. When I traveled in CA in 2006, my pay was fantastic. I got overtime for over 8 hours in a day, and over 40 in a week. Do you see that happening now?

I went with a company like that for my first travel assignment, and it was completely misrepresented. I didn't have any idea that I would be going to a different HOSPITAL EVERY DAY. I had ZERO orientation, I was expected to show up, go the the nursing supervisor's office and get a badge, and hit the floor running. No idea how I survived, really, but I did. I'm sure I didn't do things the "facility approved" way every time, though, because I had absolutely no idea what that thing was. I wanted to take a short assignment to try out travelling and got more than I bargained for. All I can say is it's a good thing I'm flexible! Do your research before you commit to something like that. Good luck!
