Hello, for the past 4 years i've been a multi system PCU nurse Aka progressive care unit. Ive accepted a job offer in the ED. I'm very excited but a little nervous. I know my hospital will train me and i will have to do simulations but i would really like to get a solid jump to the game and start preping for it now. I won't start working there until August. Could you guys recommend a book or anything to help me get ready for the ED. Thanks in advance.

I recently started working at the Orlando va medical center and i love it. They are very self aware of the public's opinion on the va and try their hardest to fight that reputation.

today my school organized a couple of nursing recruiter from a home health agency to come to my campus to provide on the spot interviews. I was the second person interviewed and it went very well. he said he would love to add me on and seemed impressed by me. he asked when can i come down to their offices to fill out a paper work and a application. it turns out today and tmrw weren't good days for him. he gave me his card and told me to call or text him that same day for when its best to come by. i called him at around 5pm and texted him right after since he didn't pick up and his mailbox was full. now all this paranoia is racing through my head. should i call again today? i already texted him. or should i wait to call him midday tmrw?

Idk remember everybody's average but I think it was mid 80s I think. I know it was higher then 76 for sure. FYI I'm in the program and about to graduate

I do know someone with a gpa around that. Just do really good on the TEAS test. FYI if you end up doing the teas test a second time the questions are exactly the same and exactly in the same order.

Hello. Idk when this question was posted so idk if this info will Help. I currently go to. Mdc and know about dade medical college. Pls stay awar from dade medical. They do not have a great reputation and the cost is really high. Mdc is much cheaper and many of the hospitals in Miami hire you on the spot if your demo mdc. I'm not jut saying this cause I go there. I know it's ki d of tough to get in but once you do it's completely worth it.

the other day my professor told me that i should be a med/surg nurse. but the thing is im not completely sure what that means. im only in my first semester in nursing school

i think they can. at orientation they said we can use Nikes as long as they were all white. they never said anything about laces.

i didn't receive anything yet. it doesn't even show her as our prof on our schedules yet either. so i'm thinking she must not have the class list.

i remember them saying it had to be completely white. even if it has a logo that has to be white as well. as for open toe shoes i dont think it would be a problem during lecture but during lab it will probably have to be closed shoes. and someone on the homestead thread said they called the nursing department and told them they have to wear a lab coat during labs.

i think the school requires a Littmann Classic II SE stethoscope. which is pretty much 80 dollars anywhere you go

a friend of mine who plans to apply in the spring went to advisement today and they told her she needed to take the healthcare class this fall. thought you should know this info.

i will take the class. if its going to be required then the school must think its beneficial towards you.

ok i found a old syllabus dated from 2003 on the mdc site from the prof i will be having and it looks like she starts on chapt 33. i guess i will be reading around those chapters. thanks

i have a question for those of you who have received a syllabus. did it indicate what chapters we should read before class starts? someone st the medical campus told me we should receive this and since i got my schedule late i havent received anything from my prof

has anyone here bought a NCLEX book? has anyone heard of any recommended books? also can someone pls recommend a place to buy our nursing shoes. i cant get the ones at the book store since they dont have my size and my feet are to wide and bulges out of the soft leather tops.

i called the nursing department and they told me that professors will be coming back to the office on the 18th. so maybe mid next week we should receive something

at orientation they told us you can only apply for it if you attend the homestead campus. and baptist wasn't offering it this fall semester. you can only apply for it during your first semester so that means no one whose starting this fall will be able to qualify for it so that sucks. they said they might bring it back during the spring.

hey has anyone here received a syllabus? i was told by Ron (the guy who runs the medical campus bookstore) that were suppose to receive a syllabus and its suppose to tell us what chapters we need to read before class starts. i remember someone from the other nursing thread mentioning this as well. i looked up the professor i have prof. Thomas and the email listed on the schools site isn't working.

im sure they will make it difficult for us.
