  1. Has anybody heard of the Hesi exam???? Is the teas anything like the Hesi???
  2. I going to try to apply for the basic program. Im coming from Chicago so I uber nervous about the big move
  3. Sorry, can't PM yet. Nursing school keeps you busy, lol. Well they look at your overall GPA but really at the core requirements, like English, psychology, A&P and chemistry. I just found out, though, you only need those four classes to get in for my graduating class. A lot of people in my class told me that they were in A&P2 our first semester and are taking micro next semester or in the summer! I had all credits needed for the degree, except nursing credits, when I got in. I think it puts you into a better position to get in to have more credits done than the bare min. But you would be able to graduate sooner if you get accepted now than getting accepted later. They have changed some stuff around for the graduating classes after me so called the school of nursing and make an appointment with the undergrad advisor (I don't know if I can say her name on here but all her info is on the school of nursing website). Make sure you ask what is all the classes needed to be accepted into the program and if it is still only those four then I would think about doing those classes at Purdue cal because I heard some people talking about how Purdue cal doesn't take some of ivy tech credits. Besides you will more than likely meet some of your future nursing classmates and these ladies and gents really look out for their own and help you out before you even get into the program. Sorry for any grammatical errors. I'm doing this on my phone, lol.
  4. Congratulations to all of you!!!! I may soon need some of your help. I spoke with an advisor about the UCF basic program and I really just wanted your take on it. I'm am a Purdue university nursing student now, but may have to move to Florida because of my husband's job getting transferred(we have 2 small children and I can't break my family up for two years) I have to take the teas. What exactly is on that test? Is it like the Hesi? How many times can you take it? You need an associates degree for this program right? What is the minimal GPA that actually get in. Is it just the prerequisites GPA or overall? Really any information would really help. I'm having a hard time getting back in contact with the advisor and reading and rereading the webpage over is like hitting your head up against a brick wall. Oh GPA overall 3.8 my sciences are 3.7. Do sciences expire after 5 years? Can I retake them to get a 4.0? if teas is anything like Hesi got a 90 on it. Thanks for your help!!!
  5. Hi all!! I really need help!! I need to interview a informatics nurse. I had one to interview but after agreeing to do the interview by email, I can longer get in contact with her. I really hope she is okay, just really busy I guess. So are there any Informatics Nurses out there willing to help a nursing student out? If so, I will leave the questions at the bottom and any of you WONDERFUL, GRACIOUS, GREATEST Informatics nurses to leave your answers at your own time. Thanks!!!! What is your role within the organization? Where does your position fall within the organizational chart? What training and/or formal education did you have to prepare you for the role? Do you have any suggestions based on your experience for additional educational preparation? How do you incorporate the Standards for Nursing Informatics role definitions of telehealth, consumer education, clinical information management, project management, research, and education into your current role? Of the roles above, what one takes up the most of your time? Why? Of the roles, which do you wish you had more time to perform? Does your position description or evaluation follow the competencies for Nursing Informatics Specialists? Why or why not? :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:nurse:
  6. Thanks so much. I guess I'm a little scared thats all.
  7. I've learned that applications are down in alot of nursing programs.
  8. Thanks! I see that there are not many people that go there on here.
  9. Hi! I go to Prairie State but got accepted into another nursing program so I will not be attending Prairie's program. But I do have many good friends that will get into the program, so if you have any questions let me know and I will ask them.
  10. Hi all! I've been on this site for a while now but decided to become a member after I got my nursing acceptance letter(didn't want to jinx myself. I'm usually good at that, lol). One thing that I've always looked for on here but never found was info on Purdue's nursing program. I found people on here that have asked questions but have received no answers. I was wondering if those individuals got in the program and if they had any advice or comments to give a new student. I got into the Calumet branch so I'd really like info on that one, but will be happy to provide info to anyone after I start. Thanks!!!
