  1. Make sure your CPR class is American Heart Assoc.
  2. Several of us received scholarships through Collin's foundation. I think the applications are still open for next year. Look on Collin.edu under the foundation tab and there is a link to apply.
  3. If you are planning to buy lots of scrubs, you may want to get some of them in royal blue. Many hospitals in the area require that for their nurses.
  4. Don't buy white for sure, you have to order specific ones. Anything else goes for the other days.
  5. Yes, tuition is the same. 1st and 3rd sem. you pay a $22 fee for liability insurance. There are lots of other up front expenses, though. The required uniform is about $100. Drug testing about $30. Books...lots of books maybe close to $900 if you buy all new ones. Shoes have to be all white. Stethoscope, BP cuff. The required skills pack is $150. Dr Ard will go over all of this in detail at orientation, but I hope this will help you get started. All of these expenses are probably common to every program. The low tuition make Collin such a wonderful "deal."
  6. If you did not get in, don't give up hope!! I got in off the waitlist and so did several others in my class. Call Monday and make an appointment to go talk to them...be nice, let them know you are serious. I am convinced that goes far!!
  7. This past spring, they mailed letters on Friday. Most of us received them on Tuesday, but a few didn't arrive until Wednesday. It was torture!! Good luck to all of you.
  8. I got mine too...information overload!! By the way, Dagsmom started a FB group for our class. It is called "Collin College Nursing Class of Spring 2013"
  9. I bought the Caribbean with rainbow and I LOVE it!!
  10. http://www.oprah.com/style/The-O-Panty-Intervention/9
  11. Since we'll be classmates and I could have posted the same thing, I say we (and whoever else wants to join us) work on it together!! I am trying to lose some before we start!
  12. I got a letter today and received a scholarship!!!
  13. I have 3 boys, 10, 5 and 3. I can't register either, look at the class list and match the codes you were given and you can see your section and instructor.
  14. dagsmom...who is your instructor? I have Thursday with Kasprisin.
  15. I like the house brand, allegro at brightlifedirect.com. They are inexpensive and they often run buy one get one promos.
  16. I am starting this fall in the program, so I don't have any advice for once you are there...but getting there, yes. This fall, they will offer a few information sessions in the evenings on campus...watch for the dates and go to one!! It was very informative when I attended and they talk about getting in and give some basic information about what the program is like. As far as people in class with you, I have made some great friends along the way. Technically, we were in competition for spots, but I never thought of it that way. We worked together and I am excited some of them will be in class with me this fall. Work hard, make the grades and you will be there before you know it!!
  17. I just received mine...the Littman II classic in the rainbow finish and caribbean blue. Love it!!!
  18. That would be good....help put names to faces!!! There is also a Collin Nursing FB group.
  19. Congrats!!! See you next week.
  20. bubbasmom..did you get in? How is your back? I had back surgery 2 1/2 yrs ago....not fun!
  21. What kind of stethoscope do most of you have?
  22. I have a friend in the same boat. She decided just to get re-vaccinated because it was much cheaper than the titers.
  23. Yes!! I got the official letter in the mail today and it was quite nice to read it and not find information about the respiratory program enclosed! Looking forward to the 29th.
  24. Have you had the english class reveiwed by the college? I've had all my classes officially transferred in. My english was credit by exam and I wanted to make sure it would count.
  25. I was first on the list. Do you know your position? TWU notifications went out this week....maybe that will free up a few spots. I am taking an evening class for micro and no one in my class even applied, so I haven't heard of anyone else getting in off the wait list. I've heard on average 5-7 people get in off the list, but I am not sure where that "rumor" comes from!!
