  1. At times I find myself in the same situation. What I think has helped me is, to slow down, calm down, think about what I want to say before it comes out. As a child I found that reading out loud (a lot) really helped. I can tell you're an intelligent human being; tell your DON--I'm sure s/he would be understanding.
  2. i don't understand why she falsified the BP. She could have had a CNA get the blood pressure while she checked on other patients. If the blood pressure was abnormally low or too high then we call 911. It covers our butt and could have saved the patient. I understand that there was an overwhelming work load as there typically is in LTC, but there is usually assistance from unlicensed personnel. I wouldn't work somewhere where I didn't have back up. If she was falsifying something so simple like a BP, what else could she be falsifying? sorry to say but this is not a safe nurse.
  3. your DON is ridiculous...had u killed the patient you would have been in bigger trouble. Wait for the patient to be unconscious? ummm no, i would have done the exact same thing you did, bs of 23 is scary
  4. I sure hope it sounds like you got the job...i just went in for my drug test so i am also crossing my fingers that i too will be hired! Good luck, keep us posted =)
  5. I have a friend that signed up with an agency. They paid him $24/hr, which is an excellent wage for a LPN/LVN, they hired him to work at a state prison. The agency was paying him for a couple of months then the state decided to hire him. The agency helped him get his foot in the door, but minimum requirement (usually) is 1 yr experience.
  6. you don't really know what you get yourself into until you become a real nurse, with a license and big responsibilities. Yes it's stressful at times, but nursing is very rewarding and after you've been doing it for several years you will find that nursing is addicting! I know of many nurses who should already be retired and they don't want to leave the profession because they are just so in love with it. When you get into school you will know whether it's for you or not. Good luck!....
