Well, to be honest, I did small prep time for the test. For the first 2-3 weeks I just glanced at what I should focus on and tested myself to see if I can get close to 100% on the practice exam in the ATI study book. I never purchased the online practice test. When the test date was coming close, I buckled down and took down my list of what may be on the Teas IV test and studied only those particular area. When I finished what I thought was most important, then I would glance at the minor details just in case. For me, I thought the Teas IV test was a cinch. Not being arrogant, but it asked many simple spatial questions on the reading/english part. Like rearrange this shape according to the directions and what shape do you get? Like any other test, never spend more than perhaps 1 minute and 30 seconds on each problem. They're all counted equally. So I would definitely do the ones I know first, then leave the more difficult ones for the remainder of the time. If there are ones you don't know, then try to narrow it down and choose the most "common sense answer".

Well I studied for the Teas IV not V. But I use the internet to my advantage as you should too. Try to find websites like these, which are dedicated to nursing and things related to nursing. People may post their previous experiences with Teas V and what surprised them on the test, and what maybe on the test. I gained a lot of help from reading previous posts on here about the Teas IV. I knew what to focus on, what my weaknesses were based on the Teas Study Guide practice questions, and what previous Teas test takers said were my heavily tested on! So then I would only focus on certain topics that had more questions, and not just cram my brain full of information. Try searching on allnurses.com for topics related to Teas V, perhaps google and type in key word searches. I remember I bought the Kaplan and ATI study guide, I found the ATI study guide a lot more helpful... but it had a significantly deficient study section for science..like chemistry; but went in-depth with anatomy/physiology when there was only 1 question on the test about it. Don't just study hard! Study Smart! :)

Haha *scratches head* Mine are not that impressive. I'm thankful to get into the SJSU BSN program! Prerequisite GPA: 3.46 Composite GPA: 3.5 Teas: 92% They don't count overall GPA, which mine was 3.26. My advice would definitely get the A's and nothing less. For teas, go for 100% and I think it's best to study 10-15 days before the Teas V test to retain the fresh information. That's just my opinion though.

CharmantUn, thank you for your warning. It was thoughtful. But I was well aware of that possibility arising. At first I was also very worried if I could get into any nursing school. But luckily, SJSU accepted me for their BSN nursing program! I am estatic, SJSU is a very decent school. I hope you also get into the school of nursing of your choice. :)

My entire email was marked "waitlisted for Spring 2012" haha. So before I opened it, I was guessing I was waitlisted for 2012... But JenApos! Please don't be discouraged! :hug: You still have 5 other AA's that have not replied yet, keep your head up! But the content of the email had a letter attachment that spelled out what number I was and how many were already in the program. I wonder if people drop out of the fall 2011 class, do the spring 2012 cohort move up also? Or am I only waitlisted for Spring 2012?! This is confusing.

I got waitlisted for Spring 2012. It's better than the string of rejection letters I have gotten. But I'm #16 on a 36 waitlist. Chances are very slim that 16 people will decide not to attend Ohlone. When I went to her office she told me last year only about 5-9 people on the waitlist got to replace those who declined. I hope 16 people don't want to attend! haha Chabot supposedly won't mail there's until May 30th I believe, and Merritt won't until May 16th. And yes, Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Well, I will try again. I was so excited to get the interview, hoping to become at least an alternate. Instead, due to unforeseen and unfortunate events, many people like me were rejected. I was hoping I could at least attend CSULB itself, but I don't think they allow that. I hope that for spring 2012 they will accept transfers..

They are all taking version V I think from spring 2012 or fall 2012 and onward. But for fall 2011 I definitely know most accepted Teas IV except: SFSU, I think Sonoma State, CSUSB?, I think CSUDH, lol I'm just listing the ones I didn't apply to because of the Teas V for fall 2011. =) I hope that helps!

on my email it said "dear bsn candidates, we had a few it glitches and are running a little behind—hope to finish by 8:30. thank you for your patience. t." did anyone else get this email? =( i still have not received the status on my application!

Oh mine didn't say I was accepted yet. It just said an admission decision has been made. I'm guessing I'm at most an alternate =P Now I just need to find out lol where I am on the alternate list! I hope they will answer the phones tomorrow

I would also like to know who is on the list also! =) I tried to call them today but nobody picked up in the nursing department.

Ooh that would be terrific if the lottery results are so soon! I think this year will have about 300-400 applicants for 40 spots right? Wow, that is some fierce competition!

So soon? I thought on the brochure it said 3 weeks after the end of application process. So it ended April 15th to accept applications, and 3 weeks would be about May 06?

Ok, so I called the nursing department today. They said they are sending out the final list very soon but they haven't even sent out any rejection letters either. So basically, lol, wait until the 4th week of April to know. But the kind nursing operator suggested I called everyday, every other day, to find out. Now I like that they don't mind being bothered

Thank you so much, haha I was catching up with 8 pages worth of post and I got lost in the labyrinth of words. Ok, so one last question 22flowers! haha, if we were interviewed back in March. It means we are either alternates or accepted right? We aren't rejected yet.

Congratulations on getting a nice full-time job Jbrhill!:) Certainly, I would say the chances do seem slim for the nursing school, but that does not mean you should give up hope! I'm only 20 years old but from what I can see, definitely keep the alternate spot at the nursing school. You never know, may a lot of the people who got accepted might give up their spots for reasons. Also, accept the job at Kaiser Permanente. Even IF you do not get accepted, at least you still have a job. To answer your question, the chances in my mind are a bit slim; but I would keep both the spot on the nursing school and keep the job at Kaiser.

I'm a little bit confused now. First off, congratulations Lovelikewoe! :w00t: I'm surprised they already let you guys know that you were accepted. How come the ones that were interviewed during March now has to wait for their decision? Don't they mail out or let everyone know at the same time? Secondly, why are they interviewing more people for the nursing school when they only accept 90 and interviewed 120 applicants?

Good luck mrgaylordfocker! SDSU is a great school! :hug: I'm worried now because I just called the CSULB automated phone and it said, "You do not have an institution assigned. Please contact the office of enrollment!" Last month it said it had been deferred to the institution of your major. Does this mean I was rejected? Did anyone else get this automated message?

Hey Lovelikewoe! I would rather do the basic program now that I realized for the trimester there is only 2 weeks off out of the whole year. Granted, you get out one year earlier so more time to find a job after graduating...but I already planned a cruise next summer...soooo...But anyways! Wow so just to clarify, are we waiting until the end of April for the results?? Or is it coming soon this week? I just found out I got rejected from CSU Channel Islands nursing program. I'm pretty bummed:crying2: Need some good news this week. And they're now accepting 72 instead of 90 people?! That's insane! There are way more applicants, and much more qualified and they're shrinking the acceptance pool. I realized I don't really have a plan B if nursing school falls through, I'm starting to panic!
