  1. I just finished my ADN to RN. I do not regret it. BSN takes you on up the chain an if your like me you want your MSN. Having more education is never ever a dumb thing! The way I think is totally different now as opposed to two years ago. I don't make rash decisions, I research, and I am a better critical thinker. I am better suited for a leadership role. As far as pre reqs the only ones I had to take we're stats, economics, Vietnam war, creative writing, and cultural diversity. All these classes make me a better nurse and a better thinker. There is nothing wrong with getting your ADN but go for the gold because you want to be a more well rounded person.
  2. Coleen that is a bit much! I have to agree with nothing in the hand.
  3. I started my last semester and I looked for internships.
  4. I don't think clinical a are like the real world at all. I hated clinicals. I thought the nurses were mean and I was scared of the patients. That was four years ago. I love my job, I feel like I am at home at work. Nursing school is not always the best predictor of what type of nurse you will be. Stick with it it does get better.
  5. I went to Chamberlain.
  6. Please be safe that is not the best part of LA. I say Santa Monica as well.
  7. I think the younger generation doesn't care and it is a very old school train of though to think people with tattoos are unprofessional. My art work cost thousands of dollars and is beautiful. The west coast seems to always be more liberal. I learned this from travel nursing. Almost everyone I work with has something permanent on their body.
  8. it is a med error because I believe you said four people did not get the medication on time? Not at the fault of you. I would ask why they believe it is a med error?
  9. I also agree how come I don't get to complain about the police men who asked me if I could read? I forgot to tape a piece of paper to my windshield and placed it on the dash. I got ripped a new one, don't my taxes pay for his job?
  10. I agree since when did healthcare become all about customer service? The ER is not the Hilton. It is a hospital for critically ill people.
  11. As long as you can cover them who cares? I cover mine by wearing long sleeves under my scrub top.
  12. In high stress events like a code or a patient you know is going to code you re not going to have a smile on your face as an RN. The house is burning down and someone is complaining about being hungry. People coming out into the hall and starring down for a nurse bugs me to no end. We are low staffed and over worked. We want to keep our licenses so the least sick patient is going to come last. Next time it would be best to take your grandmother to an urgent care.
  13. I have been asked straight away. for instance after talking with my current director I knew before the end of the interview the job was mine. My first job took a few weeks.
  14. No room for negotiation. I have been a nurse for four years and they go by your years as a nurse and apply it to a pay scale.
  15. Who is above the DON?
