Shocked at Ph.D. pay scale!
In community colleges this is the reality... GN will probably earn more than their faculty. majority of faculty will take about a 30-40% pay cut moving from bed-side to student-side. There are other perks however... time off, potential for overtime during the summer +++

Shocked at Ph.D. pay scale!
The salary seems great, but is this for a 9 month or 12 month contract?

How to Become Online Nursing Instructor
There are many online program. UOP for example has an almost 6 months training/internship program, but I have 2 friends that teach exclusively online at UOP and stay home.... You can also try exclusively online nursing programs like WGU

Online Nursing Instructor
Yes I am sure it will count. It is important to also look at what recruiters are looking for. If you have no experience in teaching how will you manage an online classroom that is more difficult? BUT do not give up!!! Apply and sell yourself. Having no experience does not disqualify you. REMEMBER nurses ARE TEACHERS. We teach everyday! Sell yourself... and the phone will start ringing :-)

Affordable Online Post masters NP programs
Hi everyone, With this growing recession and hikes in college fees, I am interested in an AFFORDABLE online FNP program. Preferably one that charges in-state tuition for out-of-state applicants. Are you in one and is it affordable? Or do you know of one that is affordable please? Thanks

Night-shift workers, do you think you could successful work days?
This is another great way - for those of us getting older staying up all day can be hard! So sleeping a little immediately after the night shift, still ends up pushing our body into day mode. How were you able to get a straight 3 day shift? Good pointnursie_pants!

Night-shift workers, do you think you could successful work days?
Many years ago I worked nights, and I would like to share a "night-shift survival tip" a friend gave me. She said go to the manager and get all your 3 nights together (same nights), include one weekend night and your manager is more likely to approve it. For those 3 nights, you are likely to get the same patients, but most importantly you have 4 days off every week! Here is the trick: On your first day off, you must stay up till very late (and wake at 8am the next day), this will automatically push your body back into day mode! Now you can spend the next 3-4 days with your family. By the way, this is the same method used by people around the world to overcome jet lag! KEY: The first day off night shift is the most important :-) I hope this helps someone...

Dismissed from BSN program not in good standing. Suggestions?!
Excellent advice Chin up! As a member of an Appeals Committee, I have met several students that have been "kicked out" of the nursing program. For the majority of these students it is a devastating experience. Chin up your encouragement is awesome, thank you! Nighthawkdc2 you will be just fine! My mother used to say when you drop a bottle of milk, it breaks and the milk spills, Mourn a little, Mop it up, and Move to the next bottle of milk. The ultimate goal is to use the milk for your cereal, so open another bottle! My advice to you NightHawkDc2 is learn from your mistakes and don't mourn too long. One day you will be a GREAT RN, keep your chin up and remember my 3 M's - Mourn, Mop, Move!

Fired because of Facebook???
Facebook is a great tool, but for professionals we need to be cautious. What are we putting on facebook? I have heard of nurses doing strip teases and putting those photos on facebook, or taking a patients body part or xrays and putting on facebook. Just think if this was your mom or pop... It is wrong and yes they should be punished. What is sad is they lost there jobs...
