  1. Thank you both so much for taking the time out to respond. I hope I can use your extensive experience as as resource. I see IC is not a very big community but I hope to make the best of it

  3. Hello everyone, So I am going to start a new position as an Infection Control Nurse/Occupational Health position next week and I'm really nervous . I've been in the ER then moved to ID research and even though I miss bedside nursing, I think this is the best way to go since I've been out of pt care a while now. I would like to get general opinions about Infection control and anyone currently working in this position-if you can give me an idea of what to expect, I will GREATLY:bowingpur appreciate it. My position is in a 40 bed rehab hospital. One more thing-will this position allow me to find other jobs across the country? I plan to move within the next year and a half or so.. Thanks again!!!
  4. ok..I know I asked in the August thread..but just in case, I received my commisioning (Reserves) in March and I am finally in-processing in september..how did you guys manage to get a date for COT already? is it because you're all AD? Thanks a bunch!
  5. Just wondering..I haven't inprocessed yet..I will next month..how is everyone finding out about their COT dates?? Are most of you AD? Thanks!
  6. Hi Tina! You sound like my process..drama and my paperwork sitting around a desk..it took me 20 moths from start to finish..hopefully I get to in process next month! keep us up to date you never know..I might see you in COT :)
  7. Thanks for the question and info..I've been waiting for 20 months for the whole process !! I've finally got a date to report for in processing in sept in SA!! I'm so anxious and excited!! So about how long is the wait for RCOT? I decided to start another job and of course I have no idea when all the training will begin so I don't even know what to say to them... Good luck XLR99 on this process I hope it goes smooth & fast. Thanks RGHBSN for the info ! :)
  8. Thanks! I'm in houston with family also..extremely fustrating! let's stay positive..I just keep thinking good things come to those who wait:D:uhoh3:
  9. I'm having the same issue. I've been a nurse for 3 years and all the OR jobs I've come across want experience. I've also looked into the Periop programs with no luck. An OR nurse manager I spoke with told me that OR entry level jobs are few because the training is about 6 to 9 months long and once you get in the OR nurses stays in that position, and most internships are hiring GNs not RNs..I'm so disappointed. Another OR nurse manager (who also was not hiring entry level) suggested a PACU position to start off. I'm not having luck in that area either, but you may. Sorry I'm not much help but if I here of anything else I'll keep you posted. Good Luck (to both of us:o)!
