  1. I applied for endorsement back in April this year (from AZ), and it just took 3 WEEKS to get my FL RN license. First, I received a letter with my FL RN license #, and then the hard copy. Good luck,
  2. Hi I just accepted an offer at one of the Orlando Health hospitals, and I would suggest you to apply to the job openings anyway because you already have experience in other areas. I have 4 yrs experience in Med/Surg, Neuro, Oncology & Rehab. But I applied to several positions including ICU, PACU, CASE MANAGEMENT, Cardiac, etc, and I got many phone calls to schedule interviews/ offers without having the experience in those specific units. Right now, they are not receiving too many experienced RN applications at all. This is what one of the managers told me. I am curious about why do you HATE FL hospital? I am new in Orlando. Good Luck
  3. Okay, I just got back from Orlando, and while there I had 2 interviews, so this is what I know from FL Hospital training program for CCN-RN or CCN-GN (to work for Neuro/ICU/PCU/ or any ICU related positions such as Cardiac or Resp): 1) Successful passing score on a written EKG is a pre-requisite requirement, you will NOT be permitted to start the CCN-RN or CCN-GN program OR ANY PROGRAM ACTIVITIES such as Nursing Orientation, New Employee Experience, etc etc. They offer monthly EKG review classes. However, there are a lot of websites & programs that you can check on line or books like the ECG Interpretation from Incredible Easy (this one is pretty good). I recommend you to practice, practice & practice ECG strips!!! and you will be OKAY. 2) There are different requirements whether you are a GN or Experienced RN, 3) The length of the training program is 12-16 weeks for GNs, and 6-8 weeks for experienced RNs 4) This is why there is an Employment contract in exchange for receiving this training. I believe the agreement is for 24 month period after you successfully complete the program. 5)GN CONTRACT: $13,500; TRANSITION EXP NURSE: $7,500.00 Hope this helps, JK
  4. Which hospital is this?? This is not safe at all!!! not safe for the nurse nor for the patients!! Our tele unit's ratio is 4:1 during day shift, & 5:1 at night.
  5. Go to http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/nur_faq.html#Endorsement , and click License by Endorsement for the frequently asked questions, I am not sure but it seems that you do need to have practiced nursing for 2 out of the last 3 years in order to be endorsed by Florida. Hope it helps, I am in the process of endorsing my RN license in Fl as well.
  6. Yes, you also must provide two fingerprint cards to the FL Board of Nursing. Go to this link for specific instructions, you have the option of purchase FD258 fingerprint cards, they will mail them to you: https://www.priderockholdings.com/SafeSupport/instructions.php?comp_id=171 You also need to go to: https://www.nursys.com/ to have your current RN license verified and send to the FL Board. For more info about all the requirements to get a FL license by endorsement, go to the link below, there a couple other things you get to do, hope this helps: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/osteopath/os_lic_req_end.htm JK
  7. Not much here. But I have found out that there are 2 major organizations in Orlando...Florida Hospital (with 8 locations throughout Orlando) & Orlando Heath...I will be moving in a few months. However, I started by applying for my FL RN license by endorsement, since Fl is not part of the Multi-State Compact Licensure...there are some steps/ requirements you need to follow ( for more info visit floridashealth.com or the FL Board), at this point I am waiting for my fingerprint card from the FL board. So once I get my FL license, I will start applying and wait!! Where do you guys work in AZ? I havent recvd any info about salaries, or which hosp is better to work for!!! Good luck!!
  8. good evening all i am a rn bsn with 4 years of experience in med/surg/oncology & 2 years experience in rehab nursing, my husband was offered a job in the aerospace business in orlando, so we are thinking about relocating to the orlando area. i have a couple of questions about nursing in orlando, if anybody can assist i would really appreciated: i am curious about the hospitals and the pay for nurses in orlando overall which would be the best hospitals to work for?
