  1. I also moved from out of state and couldn't get into a new grad program at both Presby or CMC. I FINALLY got a new grad position at CMC (after 4 months of applying) so like the previous person said, keep your eye out for positions that specificallysay new grad. When I was in orientation there were so many new nurses going into the new grad program, but they all graduated from the CMC affiliate school. Not fair in my opinion, but it is what it is! I always browse the job posting site just to see what is out there and I think there are a few new grad spots open. Good luck if you're still looking!
  2. I'm not an educator but we used it our last 2 trimesters of school. The first trimester we were required to reach a mastery level of 6 on each category (I can't remember what they were but you could take quizzes by category or subject). The second trimester we were required to reach a mastery level of 6 on each subject (Cardiac, GI, etc). It was incredibly time consuming, especially with research and preceptor at the end of the program, but I think it helped me pass NCLEX. I used it after I graduated to study and found the format of the questions were very similar to NCLEX questions. It is a lot of extra work, but from a previous student's viewpoint- it was very helpful! Comparing to ATI, it is SO much better. The explanation is much more in-depth so you actually understand why you missed a question.
  3. You passed! I got that pop-up 2 hours after testing and found out later I passed. Congrats!
  4. I graduated from William Carey Tradition campus. Applying was very easy and everyone is helpful I felt like it was a great program. I really don't have any complaints. It is tough and fast paced (18 months) but you will learn a lot; there are some great teachers. Good luck!
  5. I've always heard to not put your license number on your resume because you never know who could get a hold of your resume. Usually there is certifications section on the application to put your license number.
  6. I relocated to Charlotte after graduating in August. Received my license on October 7 and have been diligently applying for jobs since. I have had no response from CMC, Presby or Piedmont; other than the application status on the websites. It's tough out here for a new grad!! I have only been at the job hunt for a few weeks but that is my experience so far! I am getting married next weekend, but after we return from our honeymoon I plan to harass some HR people! Good luck to y'all!
  7. We didn't have a separate IV class. We initially learned IV therapy in Med-Surg I (3 level program with two trimesters per level; Med-Surg I was second level, first trimester). We were able to perform the skill on patients after that. We had arms to practice on in the lab but never on each other. We had plenty of opportunities in clinicals to practice, so I really don't wish we had been able to practice on each other. Also, before we graduated, we had another IV lab day as a refresher before preceptor. This was 2010-2011 in Mississippi. Hope this helped!
