As a student I think the best thing you can do is look up some basic information on websites or in your textbooks. I agree with classicdame as well. Just go to the nurse you'll be stationed with and tell her your experiences and what you'd like to gain from this experience. Never be afraid to ask questions! By the way not many schools have nurses where I'm from so I'd be interested in hearing what you do learn!

Oh no she didn't trip over her new (too big I might add) nursing shoes into a room full of family members of a palliative patient, while loudly exclaiming something better not printed, only to fall flat on her face carrying a warm blanket. Talk about unprofessional. That was me on one of my first clinical days four years ago. Luckily the family had a wonderful sense of humor and I got lots of laughs every time I walked by the room. Thank goodness for understanding people!
