Need advice. ..reassurance about Davidson County community college in NC
Hi Everyone! I am attempting to get into Davidson CCC for fall 17 program. I have submitted all the previous work history, my transcripts, took the last placement test required. I'm just waiting to take my NACE exam. I am super nervous. This program would be amazing for me since I have 2 little ones that I wouldn't have to leave often since it is a hybrid program. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thank you!!

Top paying hospitals in NC ?
As far as Ive heard Duke has terrible pay rates. I know a few people that I met in orientation that work at UNC and Wake Med. Im in the Ambulatory Care Clinic Float Pool as and LPN at UNC.

LTC lack of reporting
I'm happy to say I interviewed and my references and jobs are being checked at another LTC place!!! :)

LTC lack of reporting
That is one thing I will NEVER be without! My husband thought I was crazy at first but after his grandfather died at a nursing home from pure negligence he's in board...my DON would drop me like a hot potato if anything ever happened!

LTC lack of reporting
I have been thinking about it lately...it puts me and the other nurses and even the CNA's at risk every time that she wants to turn a blind eye to things or do things we shouldn't be doing. Hopefully I get another job soon so I can leave there even though I love my residents:(

looking for excelsior students in NC?
Im looking into the excelsior program from NJ and in a year or so my husband and I were looking into moving to the Clayton area...check . with the NC BON cause I don't think NC takes the program. You don't want to go do the classes and then get screwed.

Little Sisters of the Poor?
Little sisters is a very nice place to have a resident live in! I work in one in NJ. It truly is a home to the resident it does have that nursing home smell or feel, it's beautiful. The nuns take great care of the residents right up until they die. When a resident is dying they do the most beautiful things for them and the resident is never alone. I hope you were able to get your family member in

LTC lack of reporting
Thanks for your advice!!:) There is no parent company and from what I've heard from my co workers is that since we are a religious organization, we fall under different criteria. I do have resumes out because I am a brand new nurse (only 1 year licensed) and I have a baby I have to worry about. It just blows my mind how she's trying to run the home. Even HR listens to what she says! It's her way or the highway. It sucks because I do love my residents but I can't keep potentially being put in a situation where I could lose my license.

LTC lack of reporting
I work an a LTC facility where we just got a new DON. She had been the DON previously, but the position was taken away from her (and now we alllllll know why!) Since she took over she said that the facility, which is 2 skilled units and 1 residential, have been having too many falls, skin tears, and bruises of unknown origin... Well a resident fell the other day and the DON told a brand new RN not to report it. The nurse didn't report it or mention it to me on report or even just in passing so I would know. My CNA's told me and I was able to look out for any issues with my resident (thankfully he had no issues). The DON does stuff like this all the time, sometimes she asks us to give meds without orders or she makes up an order and wants us to sign off on it (we use the old school carbon copies to write out telephone and standing orders). Also, shes been super discriminatory to the LPN's (me and another girl). Shes been trying to shove us out the door since she took over. Apparently she thinks that when the state comes in for the survey that having LPN's are going to somehow make our survey bad.

NJ LPN Scope of Practice
It's completely obnoxious that the NJBON talks in circles and never once gives you a straight answer I've been searching for the lpn scope of practice but can't find it!

passaic county college lpn to rn program 2014
Hey!! Have you taken the NACE yet? I wanna call the school and see just how strict the admissions criteria is it says on the paper that you need a B or better but I know in my practical nursing school I had a few C's do you think I shouldn't bother?

Hi! I was looking into doing the LPN to RN program...has anyone done that? Also, is the entrance test difficult? Are there any study guides that would help me prepare for it? Also, have any of you been able to work? I am part time right now working 3-11 at a nursing home and really cannot afford to leave my job. Thank you!
