  1. I also work for assisted living in Massachusett and we the nurses are NOT allowed to do the sAMM residents - if you don't know what you are giving, and you didn't prepare it yourself, do not give it
  2. I am an LPN nursing student and I want to start doing some NCLEX reviewing - what did you guys use for study material? Good luck to you both!!!
  3. I am like a lot of people here and you, just older.. :) I am 41yrs old and have 3 children 2 in high school and one in elementary school. I have been a stay at home mom for 16+ years and I haven't been to school since 1990 when I finished some college classes and started working. I start the LPN program in Massachusetts at the end of Aug and I am a nervous wreck. I am in a full time program and it only runs 10months but from what I have heard it is a long tough 10months. I, like you, fear of how I will juggle it all, how I will manage to study enough and the 'right things'.. but after reading all these posts from people in our same boat, and some that have already succeeded it gives me so much hope and courage. Thanks for posting this question, concern and thanks to all that responded. Good luck to you all in everything you do!
  4. See I went to half.com, amazon.com, cheaptextbooks.com and by the time I got all the books whether used or new with shipping it always came to such a small savings that I just didn't want to chance it coming from all these different sellers.. and then to not know the condition of the books before getting them made me nervous. I was lucky and found a girl that went last year and bought ALL of her books there are 8 of them that changed from last year to this year.. so I still have to order those 8, I have them in my cart at the 'book store' they recommend but I just don't have the money right now, so I will hope that ordering them on friday will give them enough time to get here, before school starts. The only one I am really worried about is the A&P not getting here in time, but I do have the prior edition and I am reading up on it now to get a 'head start'. So anyone else thinking about what they are going to bring with them the first day of school??? And when do we get our scrubs that we had to order soooo long ago?? I have to drop off some medical stuff tomorrow with Nancy so I am going to ask some questions then. But obviously we don't need ALL these books at the beginning but I hope they tell us what they expect us to carry, versus what can stay home ya know?? I have been out of school for soooo long I just hope I do okay with all this change :)
  5. Sorry this is so late.. did you get the email with the used books?? I ended up getting about 1/2 from a prior student and then I had to buy another 8 from the 'book store' because they upped the edition. Still saved me about $300 off buying all new. I also have a friend that is going to apply for next year and hopefully she will make it and buy my books from me.. :) Hope you got the used books email and found what you were looking for. :) Christine
  6. Awesome.. I met another women when I did my CPR certification and she is going to Harwich as well. :) How did the orientation go? I had to miss it we had an already scheduled vacation for this past week. I have to meet with them some point this week I hope. Did you get all your financial aid information that day too?
  7. I was just on the faces website today tryig to figure more out and understand more - it does say an EFC number but it is just a 5 digit random number - there is a number you can call though so I think tomorrow I will call them and see if I can find out more information - I just hate to wait and wait just to find out that I am not getting enough financial aid - I was happy to see that in the estimated cost to go to UCT that they include everything not just tuition so the estimated costs will be over $23,000 for the 10months that might help me get more towards the tuition part --- it is a bit overwhelming right now with so much unknown!
  8. Yeah I did finally hear from UCT and I was accepted to the Harwich campus - I am on a "list" to get into Bourne if someone doesn't send in there deposit or decides to go somewhere else - crossing my fingers for that! The Harwich orientation is the 6th of June. I have a question about financial aid though it is really confusing me - I went to the FAFSA website a long time ago and filled that out, then when I got my packet from UCT I called the financial person, as it said in the package to do if you have questions, so I asked her what I o now to find out how much financial aid I will receive and she told me to go to http://www.studentloans.gov and I did that az well, but I still don't get how you actually apply for the financial aid and find out how much you will actually get! I really need to find out sooner versus later so I can figure out how much will actually be coming out of pocket - is anyone else having these issues or do you guys understand how this all works??????
  9. Sorry I see now you got the letter March 29th :)
  10. Thank you so much for responding and for the information :) I am curious when you got y our acceptance letter? I am patiently, well trying for the patiently, waiting to hear something! And praying it will be possitive :) which campus did you get accepted to? I am very happy for you and wish you all the luck!
  11. I also did well compaired.. my percentile was 93rd.. and I also scored 18/20 (I only got a 3 on the science portion.. 5s on the other three) on the interview.. I was feeling very good leaving the interview... I just wish I heard something already... I will be patient.. I do worry though "what if" I did already get a letter and it was lost or something?? that worries me a bit.. especially where your deposit was due today and I know they said if you don't get your deposit in on time your spot is gone.. wonder if they give you a reminder call before giving your spot away?? Anyway thank you so much for this information I really appreciate it
  12. I was hoping you would say that you were in the group that tested in Dec.. when I had my interview I was told that no acceptance letter will go out until after the last test session which was March 5th... I am so bummed. I did call today and was told that they are behind in sending them out and that they still have acceptance letters to go out.. she said you will get a letter with either acceptance, rejection or waiting list.. If I don't get anything by friday I am going to call just to check if mine went out or not.. what if it is lost in the mail?? I can't call again today as it is after 5:30 and they are gone... thanks for the information though I appreciate it. Can you tell me how you did on the test? I am curious.. :) Thanks
  13. Ahhh I am waiting to hear from UCT.. and it is driving me nuts... :) When did you girls take the acceptance test?? I went in February and had my interview in March and was told I would hear either way by April 15th.. here we are the 13th and I haven't heard a word.. I am freaking.. the waiting is sooo hard. I am curious as to when you girls took the test and had your interview? Thanks for any information. Also when you got your acceptance information did it have the tuition and financial aid information with it? Thanks again for any information. Christine
  14. I am curious to anyone that got their acceptance letter from UCT when did you take the test and how long ago did you hear from them?? I am still waiting.. they told me we would all hear by April 15th and here we are at April 13th and I haven't heard anything.. I am so sick to my stomach waiting... I took the acceptance testing in February, had my interview the first week of March, where I asked Patricia thought I should retake the test, didn't score as high in science as I would have liked, she told me I was in the top 90% and that I did not have to retake it.. all my information was already there, ie, transcripts, letters of recommendation.. everything so I just assumed I would have heard by now.. and to see that Aorificezczyk already got her acceptance letter and has to have your deposit in by today scares me even more... when did you hear??? Thanks for any information! :) Christine
  15. Tim did you get in with that score?? I am asking because that is the score I have also.. good luck if you haven't heard yet!
  16. I have it and can email you but I would need your email address.. :)
  17. YES I highly recommend them. You can call the number and they will tell you what you need, instead of being like me and guessing and buying the wrong things to begin with. They are super helpful when you call. I took one of the tests the day I got them and another 2 days before my 'big' test - from the first to the second test I improved immensely using the ATI TEAS V Study Guide and the McGraw Hill Nursing Exam Study guide. Good luck!
  18. I just took the TEAS V last weekend and just got my results yesterday... first I want to say I have been out of school for 23years and have been a stay at home mom for the last 16 1/2 years... so I wasn't surprised when I received the study guide from ATI that I had a LOT of work to do. I had exactly 2 1/2 weeks to study and I was frantic!!! I figured I would take the test in Feb because if needed the school I am applying to has another run of the test in March. Anyway the reason I quoted you is this, not many people post the 'lower' grades and I am glad you did.. I didn't even do as good as you but overall I am happy that I passed. I got a 74% overall with an 81% in Reading, 86.7% in Math and a 58.3% in Science and I have to say I was surprised with my English/Language score, but honestly I think I was soooo frazzled after the Science part my brain just shut down and I received a 66.7% on English/Language - all in all I received higher scores than the national and program mean so I was happy with that and I was ranked "Proficient".. so I am hopeful! The school I am applying for is for an LPN program and they only want a 61% or better in Reading, 50% or better in Math, 33% or better in Science and a 53% or better in English/Language - so anyway I posted my results for anyone that is as nervous as I was.. just study and do the best you can and hope for the best.. that really is all you can do. I wish anyone taking this test in the future some luck.
  19. Ahhhh I just had to vent and not many people understand what I am going through but figured MOST of you would totally get my anxiety and stress or waiting.. we did a paper and pencil version and the test sheets were suppose to be sent out saturday or monday with our results being posted monday or tuesday.. well it is tuesday and still nothing.. I know I am being impatient but I just can't wait to see how I did and if I am going to have to retake them.. I felt pretty confident on the math, english and reading it was the science that I was totally baffled and that was with studying for weeks.. I just never was good at science... Okay just wanted to vent and see if there are others out there like me... waiting (patiently...lol) but feeling sick to my stomach!!!
  20. Wonna hear a funny story.. I had decided a few weeks ago that I wanted to get into an LPN program.. I went through all the steps, found a school, they tole me I had to take the TEAS so I went to ATI and bought the study guide and the online tests and I have been doing the book and some other online stuff I found and then today I was reading something on here and saw "Version V" and I thought hmmm what is that?? So here I am 2 weeks away from probably the biggest test of my life and I realize yeah I have been studying the WRONG BOOK!!! So I had to buy the Version V and now I am working through that... lost th emoney from Version 3.0/4.0 and the online practice things and probably - can't say I totally wasted my time though because the brush up using the 3.0 book was good... now onto bigger and better things.. I am so nervous, excited and scared all at the same time.> I have been out of school for 20+ years taking care of my children.. guess it is my turn to learn. :)
  21. Hi there. I am just starting my process of entering an LPN program.. I have to take my TEAS in Feb and I am nervous. I have been out of school since 1988 that is a LONG time. I did order the TEAS study guide and also paid for the practice test from atitesting.com so I think I will be okay as far as the material to get me ready.. BUT I was wondering if any of you that have recently taken it could give me some of the things that helped you get through this test. Thanks in advance!
  22. Robin congrats on being accepted to the LPN program!!! I am with you but I haven't even been accepted yet. I am just starting the process and have to take the TEAS entrance exam next month and won't find out if I am accepted or not until April.. but I will tell you that even though I am unsure if I will be actually attending the LPN program I am scared with the thought of it.. I am feeling exactly wha tyou are feeling.. so you are not alone.. I bet we all feel this way when making such a huge decision! I love the advice you received in this thread and I am glad I read it.. and wanted to thank you for posting that you are nervous!! Good luck, when do you start?
