New Graduate Assisted Living
So, I've got 6 months of experience working in an Assisted Living facility, and I am physically/mentally drained! Not by the job (dont get me wrong, Im running like the Road Runner) but I keep going to these interviews that are great. I mean, I've been subliminally told I have the job and to keep my phone on THAT afternoon. But I have had no call backs, told "the position has been filled, I'm sorry I didn't get around to calling you." It's getting really frustrating. Any advice? Im strong willed trust me, but I'm losing hope. ;( I don't know what to do;(.

New Graduate RN Float pool
Thanks Tik1985, I applied to several of the BMC New Grad Float Pools, I got an email saying I wasn't considered because there were more qualified employees there for 1 of the positions. Let's hope I get something. Thanks for suggesting that though;). I use Indeed.com and lately there's been A LOT of float pool stuff.

New Graduate RN Float pool
Thank you KelRN, it does make sense. It's just very disappointing. I have been a CNA for 10 years and I can't take it anymore! I need to work as an RN and its just stressful and wearing on me. I got a job at an Assisted Living but let's me serious Im a "Pill Pusher." If I keep forbearance my loans Im going to end my paying my loans in my grave! Thanx and sorry about the rant. I don't want to lose my license over a company making money and pointing fingers. It's my ass and I don't plan on losing my license. Thanks Again!

New Graduate RN Float pool
I got a reply about a month after I applied to Steward Health Care. The thing I don't understand is EVERY hospital in Boston that I spoke with said with no experience, the only position we have available is New Grad Float pool. So if it was that bad why would they allow new graduate Nurses to even be a candidate for Float Pool positions? I've heard both sides, people say NOO stay away and than I hear from nurses who have done it and say They love it, of course they get units that are horrible because no one wants to help the new nurse, but for the most part they love it. If no one will hire what would you do, I mean my loans aren't going away anytime soon?

New Graduate RN Float pool
I have an interview for a float pool 7p-7a at one the of the Steward Healthcare companies and wanted to know if anyone got hired as a new grad in the float pool. I've seen equally both good/bad comments and wanted to just get the feel from previous people in similar experiences.

Any New Grad Programs North of Boston, Boston, or South of Boston Location???
So, I took a position at an assisted living facility to get some experience, wether its just getting familiar with medications, or getting familiar with medical paperwork. I now assisted living isn't the greatest nursing experience to start out at but this is getting INSANE. How am I suppose to pay my loans if NO ONE will hire new graduate RNs? I cannot leave Massachusetts, but I've applied everywhere! I figured since January graduates are out there would be more postings but NOTHING. I email most people just to put a Resume to a name and every single reply "No, sorry we do Not hire new grads-Good Luck" if anyone knows anything PLEASE help me!

New Graduate Assisted Living
Hey WaterSamy, I have a Per-diem shift as an RN, the facility offers pretty good benefits at Part time, so the DON asked if I wanted to take some Med-Tech positions to make me officially Part-Time on paper. I have 2 weeks to decide.

New Graduate Assisted Living
Also, I was going to work per diem but the DON Asked if I would like to take some extra shifts and work as a Med-Tech, is this a safe move for my license ? For those that don't know Family members provide the Medication cassettes pre filled with their loved ones medication list and the Med-Techs administer them! I had concerns that as a Med Tech I can lose my license because I am administering meds that I myself have not personally administered. The DON assured me through Company contracts that there is no effect whatsoever on my license because the family and Resident sign contracts saying that the staff have NO RESPONSIBILITY if harm is caused to the Resident by medication errors. The DON said that they would NOT assign me a position that would put my license on the line, nor their own! He showed me several contracts that the family has to sign because my concern is that Med Techs do not have to be licensed, and as an RN I do have a license, any advice would be great!

New Graduate Assisted Living
Good Morning My Fellow Nurses;) I, after several threads of complaining finally got a job, the only thing is that it is not a skilled facility, it is an Assisted Living Facility. We administer meds, assess , do admits, fall risks are big of course. I want to work for a hospital. Does working for this type of work hurt my chances of getting a job in a hospital setting? I would love skilled nursing but NO ONE is hiring. Thank you in advance for reading;)
