I've Failed The NCLEX 8 Times & Now I'm about To Take It 1 More Time...
100% absolute truth!!!!! Kaplan's Nclex Test Prep is 100% money back guaranteed too. Pass or they refund the cost of the class but you must follow the plan as outlined. Decision Tree, Pain is psychosocial, Nclex testing is a "perfect world" there is always plenty of time and no staff shortage. Don't bring in clinical or personal experience, most often that is a big no,no!! Also if a question answer selection has us asking a patient "Why" we don't!!! cuz we are not 2 years old (some pearls of wisdom from kaplan's nclex test instructor) The book is also an awesome resource for consolidating pharmacology and other pathophysiology "stuffs" Hope that helps I passed nclex last month & my test shut off at 90 ?'s But Yes it's absolutely imperative to study, if you don't have the basics or desire to study, maybe you might be happier in another career field or someother aspect of healthcare.

Did anyone ever complete their RN-BSN through Kaplan University?
I have to agree with Becca, RN. I am currently finalizing the application process for Kaplan University RN - BSN program. Emma my admissions rep has been awesome and very accomodating, financial aid process is pretty painless too. I am looking at a start date of 3/21/12. They also have the 5 week trial deal too. If you don't like the online program or feel that your learning style best suits the classroom instead of online, you can back out without being penalized. It's a free trial. I attended Kaplan's San Diego campus too, received my ADN on Jan 11, 2012, Passed Nclex the following month, now it's time to work towards my next educational goal. I have nothing but the best to say about Kaplan!!! A lot of changes have been made and Kaplan is top notch school of nursing!!!!! :yelclap:

Preparing for preceptorship
Honestly, that wan't an intentional "shout"; cap lock was on when I started message and was off when I returned. Sorry if offended. basically 2 part question, sorry for confusion :) 1. Would it be inappropriate for a nursing student to approach someone she mentored during a clinical rotation and ask them to precept for them? Or would it be putting a nurse in an akward situation, putting them in a position to say "yes" even if they did not want to. 2. Any advice for preceptorship in emergency room? Thanks :)

Preparing for preceptorship
hello everyone ~ i am a nursing student transitioning into my preceptor semester shortly!! (god please let me pass finals) my final clinical instructor was new. just finished her advanced practice studies for np and full of great ideas! she had a dreamy eyed look about her that i related to her being new too!! personally i find that a great comfort and she was very approachable. she told us when fininshing her adn she did a "student requested preceptorship" locating her own because she felt the desire and passion because this is where her interest was for career path and advised us to do the same if felt lead to do so. she also knocked her self out getting us one day rotations thorough-out the hospital. i went to the er for a one day rotation and worked with a nurse that was student friendly, :) very professional, and above all felt very comfortable with and not made to feel stupid (thanks so much) and pondered for the nextweek about what my clinical instructor said. the following week i gathered the courage to ask him not even thinking that this approach was "putting him on the spot' is this true? are student requested preceptorships viewed like this? would appreciate input on that and any other important aspects of ed preceptorship and protocols anyone may suggest if any thanks

Treat your patient like you would want your mother to be treated
That was amazing thanks for your passion as well as your compassion!! We often forget how we touch others lives at their most vulnerable times. What makes it all worth while is when we realize our lives have been touched too.

Kaplan San Diego ADN Jan 2010
Currently finishing my 3rd semester at Kaplan in San Diego. When I applied for the program, from start to finish was 6 weeks. I am also part of the first group in the "extended" 24 month program. My educational experience has been great and I highly recommend this program. Our pharmacology instructor is brillant and dedicated to the education of future nurses. Her exams and quiz's are killer but it's because of her dedication, she goes the extra mile, Whoot!! Whoot!! Cynthia!! Thanks!! To anyone considering Kaplan's ADN program I highly recommend it :)

Do you ever feel this way after a test?
Similar experience earlier this semester in phamacology. After an exam which I thought after taking I had failed, turned out to be an 84% Darn NCLEX style questions. Who knew that there would be more than 1 right answer and the basis for selecting the correct one is better and best reasoning. I don't know if that makes sense to anyother students but that's what my Fundies instructor told us. Long gone are the kick back days of fact recall for test taking :)

Care Plans - What's their purpose? - What do you think of them?
That was wonderful and so brave for you to post as an instructor!! Currently care plans are the most difficult part of school for me. I struggle with them and can't wait until I have the Ahaaaa moment. I just joined the site today and was hoping to gian insite to care plans. I have come to the conclusion my instructor enjoys making my life miserable :) I have often thought it would be great to gain insite into what my instructor is thinking and you may have given me some insight. Thanks
