My online shopping reviews - please share yours!
I've purchased all of my scrubs from Biddles (http://shop.biddlesscrubshop.com/). I think the customer service and shipping is great. It's the cheapest I've been able to find Grey's Anatomy scrubs. They give you free shipping on orders over $75 and often email out discount codes. If you use "facebook" as a coupon code, you get 10% off.

Preparing for preceptorship
Hi everyone, what specific skills do you expect students to have mastered or at least be experienced with before starting a preceptorship (for example, inserting a foley catheter, priming IV tubing, giving IM and subQ injections, bed baths)?

Scrubs that are stretchy and are available in petite
Grey's Anatomy and IguanaMed scrubs are super stretchy and have a bunch of pants that come in petite sizes. They're a little pricey, but they have a nice fit and are high quality.

BSN's only can get a PHN in CA
There are still several schools that offer accelerated BSN programs. I'm not sure what part of CA you're from, but check out the nursing websites for CSU Northridge, CSU Bakersfield, CSU San Marcos, Loma Linda University, Mt. Saint Mary's, National University, and Samuel Merritt College. I know some of the schools I listed are private, but if you're thinking about going out-of-state, the tuition may be the same as going to a private school in CA since you won't be a resident. Also, some of the public schools that don't offer accelerated BSN programs anymore (like CSULB) still offer entry-level MSN's for people that have a degree in a different field.

university of detroit mercy second degree program
Hi Bigdude, I don't feel comfortable posting my GPA, but maybe you can contact the counselor and see if she can give you the average GPA of students that were admitted. Good luck!

university of detroit mercy second degree program
Hi Sophia! I have so many questions about the program. I hope you don't mind! 1) Is there anything you wish you did (like study/review certain topics) or anything you wish you knew about the program before you started that would have made your first semester easier? 2) Do you know if people plan on applying for externships to do during the program? And is the program doing anything to help address the tough job market (for example, workshops or counselors to help with resumes/cover letters, etc)? 3) Do you know if most of the new grads from this year have found jobs? Thanks for your help and congratulations on finishing up your first semester!!

university of detroit mercy second degree program
Hi Lo-be! I was accepted to the Jan 2011 cohort too! I was wondering how you know what the exam schedule is? Other than the letter asking for a deposit, I haven't received anything else in the mail. Have you started receiving other letters?

university of detroit mercy second degree program
Hi msuliz. I still have two prereqs to finish in the fall as well so my acceptance is still conditional. Have you had a chance to see what your online application says?

university of detroit mercy second degree program
Hi msuliz, I haven't received a letter about a criminal background check from UDM, but I did get an email from the SDO counselor telling me I got accepted. Also, when I log into my online application, there is a section that says "Application Status" and "Decision" that says I've been accepted. Good luck!!

Suggestions for pre-studying AP2 and Micro for summer term
Is there a way you can get a hold of the syllabus for each class in advance? If so, I would start reading the chapters that are on the syllabus because not all classes go through the book in chronological order. If not, you can email the instructors and ask them what chapters they plan on covering the first couple of weeks.

University of Detroit Mercy 2nd Degree App Questions
Thanks purpleRN2B and UDMABSN! I submitted my application and the school has already received some of my transcripts. I really hope I get in!! I was able to visit the school during a weekend, but haven't attended an info session yet because I don't currently live in MI. Would any of you mind telling me what the schedule is like for each semester (how many days you attend class vs. clinicals)?

University of Detroit Mercy 2nd Degree App Questions
Oh wow, UDMABSN! You heard back after a month? That's great! Thanks for the reply. Do you mind me asking which prereqs you were able to test out of? I'm completing microbio and nutrition this semester and will have only ethics and biochem left, which I'll be taking in the Fall. I'm hoping to get accepted to the Jan 2011 cohort. Good luck in May!!

University of Detroit Mercy 2nd Degree App Questions
Hi everyone, I'm applying to UDM's second degree option. I have some questions about the application that I was wondering if those of you who have been accepted can help me with: 1) How long was your essay? There appears to only be one essay question in the application, which is in regards to my educational goals. The application says the answer can be up to 32,000 characters long. 32,000 characters sounds really long. Obviously, it should be quality over quantity, but I just wanted an idea of how long most people's essays were. 2) How long after submitting your application were you asked to submit transcripts? 3) How long after submitting your application did you hear about whether you got accepted or not (I'm applying for the January 2011 cohort)? Thanks in advance for any help!
