The Washington Hospital Center RN Residency program February 2011
Sorry....I have no idea how they are selecting individuals for interviews...I just randomly applied to the job last week and they sent me an email asking for some information and then another one asking to set up an interview. Have you called HR to see if you could check on your application status?

Advice on finding a job in CT
Yeah I've pretty much accepted that I need some sort of connections...Think I know someone who knows someone so I'm working on it... Bobbkatt, did you obtain your CT license via endorsement prior to applying for jobs?

I just used Saunders and did 100 questions a day...After taking it I realized that I might as well have took the exam like a few of my classmates the week after graduation. Nothing that I studied for was on the exam...felt like it was a complete waste of my time studying and doing questions. I could have taken that exam the first week out and got the same results

Huge dilemma about relocating (new grad)
I feel your pain...I am in a similar situation as you are. I have applied to every new graduate program in CT as well as other positions and still nothing. I have 2 bachelors degrees as well as a Masters in another field and an excellent gpa and references but none of that seems to matter. I keep hearing people say that these programs are competitive (blah blah etc) but quite frankly I find that hard to believe. There is no way that someone can pay me to believe that somehow I cannot "compete" with the best when it comes to grades and experience. I think that is about who you know and/or where you had clinicals in the state. It is very frustrating because I had made several follow up calls/emails regarding the status of my applications and most of the time I can't even get a return email/call. I have been calling the HR person at L&M for about 3 weeks now and she never seems to be in the office. Tough market in the NE...I wish I knew someone in that area who had pull to get me at least an interview. Good Luck!

Advice on finding a job in CT
Hello. I am a new graduate nurse currently living in VA and have been trying to make a move to CT. I am wondering if anyone can offer some insight about the job market there for new graduates. I have applied to several hospitals for new graduate programs but have not had any luck so far. Just wondering if anyone can offer some insight into what I need to do to catch a break in the market in CT.

"Are you currently licensed in CT? If you don't have a valid CT license its doubtful your app will get past the first person..Most have the requirement as a Valid CT license. If you don't hold a CT license that is probably why you haven't gotten any acknowledgement of your submittal, you don't have the needed requirements. I have several friends who work in HR and they've said, with the amount of apps the get, if they see all the requirements aren't met the app is forgotten about." No I am not currently licensed in CT. I just took and passed NCLEX this week. However, all of the positions that I have applied to in CT have been new graduate programs with the requirement being that I have obtained my CT license by the program start date.

Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2
Yes a few pages back someone took it this past week and got sent to the credit card page. I thought the PVT was just coincidence but I dont think so anymore. I got the good pop up a few hours after I took the exam and found out I passed today via quick results. I think that once your status becomes pass there is no further need for you to register for the exam and thats why pass candidates get the "good pop-up".

Nclex 75 questions: Passed or failed?
Congratulations...I took it yesterday and it stopped at 75...freaking out waiting for the results....Hardest test of my life!
-
Took the nclex-rn this morning...
Sorry to hear that...All you can do is regroup and pass it next time. I know that people say that PVT is accurate but I would hold out a inch of hope until the results come in. I took it yesterday and did the PVT and got the "good pop up" but I can't believe that I passed because I left there knowing that it would take a miracle for me to have passed that exam....Good luck and you will get there!

I wonder what she means by shortly and if they have already interviewed anyone...Did she tell you this yesterday? Perhaps they are choosing internally..ugh! I have not even moved to RI yet. I am still in VA and taking the NCLEX the second week in Jan...I am holding out on moving bc I am not sure if I am going to be working in CT or RI...Still just waiting to see what if anything at all happens with employment up that way.
