I just got in!! Literally just found out.

I submitted in April for FNP. I interviewed 2 weeks ago.

Is anyone still waiting to hear anything back at this point?

I appreciate your suggestions and it is great it worked for you. But I kinda agree with others, one does not need to read an entire textbook cover to cover before the semester begins. I remember some classes we skipped through many chapters and so doing it in advance would be a lot of information. But hey! I am sure it is fun to know if you have the time and all. Good luck!

It might not be a mandatory requirement or even something you have to do to be able to be a better nurse, but it definitely is great if you came to the medical field with some experience and perspective. Plus, it does not shock one as much. We have a few nursing students who come for their clinicals on our floor, and one can easily see the comfort levels of those who work in this sector already (as a CNA or in some other capactiy) and those who are brand-spanking new. If it can be afforded and done, it will be a good experience. Getting a job might be a different ballgame altogether.

Is it so wrong to be sensitive in today's world? Is it so wrong to feel a tad let down by people's behaviour and just vent without people making you, the already offended person, feel worse for not being able to 'handle' stuff? Gosh! the OP did not fly out of the handle and nobody here ,including me, knows their ways of dealing with situations. Not everyone is born with a tough skin and not everyone needs to just become this person who can handle crap with a zen-like attitude. It is okay to feel upset about crappy things too.

I am taking Micro this semester too! I have an excellent instructor. She is very passionate about her subject, a bit intense but very good. I am looking forward to a fun informative semester!

I have applied to Wake technical Communtiy college's ADN program for Spring 2014. Cannot wait to hear back from them. Have two more pre-reqs left which I will be completing this Fall, so that I will be all done if I do get in.

Hii, Congratulations on getting that interview call ! Getting that call is half the battle won I think. I recently got hired by a hospital too and I start Monday. My interviewer was a great guy and he asked me the same hypothetical questions ,like what would you do in this situation? Who would you help first? He gave me a scenario about 5 patients in different situations and asked how would I prioritize? I cannot tell you for sure I answered correctly but I did make sure I kept patient safety in mind. That is the most important. I am sure if you were really in that situation you would use your logic just fine and there is not right or wrong order as long as you are not forgetting the basic principles : patient safety! Always, always! You might also get asked questions like how did you deal with a difficult situation at work? Why you? Whom would you hire and why? Good luck :)

I started applying on the very last day of last year and got this call on the 6th of January. My interview was on the 12th and I found out the following Monday. I have to say I was expecting a long job search and infact I applied only to hospitals initially and got some rejections from one particular one right away. So, this job was a good example of being at the right place at the right time. I wish you guys lots of luck. Do keep applying, a good manager will definitely look at your resume soon!

I think your friend is right. Any experience to get your foot in the door is helpful when you are starting out. You can then move up or move on to better opportunities armed with your experience. Good luck :)

hey lalopop86 I am in NC and I recently got hired by a hospital . I think I lucked out too. A great manager saw my resume and was willing to give me a chance. I start in 2 weeks. I am very excited. How is it working in a hospital? I would love to know your experience.

I am like you. Doing bad on even one quiz highly upsets me. But we have got to go easy on ourselves. You have a great over-all GPA and you seem to be working hard to do better at your classes. I would try to not worry as much. Just focus on this class and as long as you have learned well in your class, that will help you in the long run. Good wishes.

hey KeepCalmcarryOn , guess what? we have one more reason to celebrate then. I got the job too :) I am so psyched. Don't want to over-do it ,I do fee grateful that I got a good chance. My job is part-time nights which is a bit of an adjustment but am fine. Just have to roll with it. I will be working 2 12-hr shifts in a week and then see from there. My orientations starts in 2 weeks. Thanks to everyone who helped me interview-wise, they did ask some of the same questions. Oh and congratulations KeepcalmCarryOn :) Lots of good wishes for a new phase !

thanks you guys :) I am very happy but I don't want to forget that I am blessed and lucky to have found someone who was willing to give this newcomer a chance. I think I know the basic idea behind differential pay and thank you for explaining. Just that the HR manager told me something about how if you worked between a certain number of hours in the evening or night I would get the differential pay. That confused me. I will be working 7pm-7am. I guess I will just need to do some more research too.

Am very excited and happy and humbled at the same time that i got my first nurse aide job. It with a hospital in the cardiovascular unit. The HR lady called me and told me the pay and the night shift differentials and all that. I have read a lot about differential pay and all that but I cannot seem to get a very clear picture yet. I am trying to look it up on various sites but could someone break it down for me please? I am not very smart money-wise,like I just want to understand my pay-cheque better this time. I am also going to be interviewing for PCT position and atleast one of them is in the Cardio--Vascular ICU. I have done so much research so far and been mentally asking myself questions like you said and talking out loud in the shower, when I drive hehe! I keep thinking of all possibilities. I have just been worried if they will ask me very specific patient care questions, I remember most of what I learned ,some little details might have slipped my mind. Nothing that is not common sense. But one of my interviews is Thursday! I am excited and nervous.
