Love the residents - HATE the coworkers!!
That is physical and emotional abuse.

Chasing after alarms. What do you do?
That seems illegal.

I hate my job as a certified nursing assistant and want to quit after two weeks!
There are other facilities that are not so difficult. Where I work they have 2 sections. The short term and long term. The short term is mostly for rehab clients. They are easier to deal with. Then there are assistant living facilities. Also home health care. Presently I am looking into Hospice care. I have heard that you don't have to do much for them. Lady involved in hiring for one said," Working at a nursing home is like doing factory work. I would only have 4 to 6 clients. Do things like read to a client." Just realized this was posted in August. What has happened since then?

Dealing with noncompliant client?
How do you deal with a client whom will not let you change them when they are very dirty?

crap...am I in huge trouble???
I have made bad mistake and didn't get fired. I think as long as no one got hurt or the clean up wasn't extremely expensive I you won't get fired. Possibly a write up. Just try to get in the habit of looking behind yourself before you leave a room.

Feel pressured to do 2 people transfer alone
I have found that this occurs because therapist doesn't upgrade the info in the ADL book. Thus I go to the therapist to get it upgraded.

Increasing speed
Well 5 months have gone by and still barely get done at 11:15. I see there are some things I do that other skip. Like floating the heals and asking the resident if they are comfortable. Even when I just have 6 clients I barely get done. The 6 clients are on the rehab section of building and constantly ask for help. When I have 12 on the nursing side I decide when I help them most of the time. I try to do showers before dinner. Usually only get 1 done. I am at loss as to what to do. Thinking of going to Hospice care. For one, whom hires for Hospice care, said "working at a nursing home is like factory work. Hospice work is different."

Feel pressured to do 2 people transfer alone
I agree with that, thus I get the xrays and go to a chiropractor. Result is I get better faster. Workmen's comp Doctors just seem to push medication that it is impossible to take and work.

Feel pressured to do 2 people transfer alone
Are you certain that they were talking about all lifts and not just the sit and stand lift? For with the sit to stand lift we are allowed to do them by ourselves.

Invalid drug test?
No one I saw has a band ankle sprain. Patient lost balance in bathroom and her foot went sideways as she rebalanced him. This is a no lift facility. Having 12 to 16 patients puts a lot of pressure on you to rush and then accidents happen. My injury occurred while hooking man up to lift for I was leaning forward doing it. Rushing did not move the wheel chair so that I could stand by the side of the patient

Invalid drug test?
I think the herbs are affecting the color of my urine. For I urine test I did at school showed the density to be thick and it is a darker yellow than it use to be. Inconclusive. Heard supervisor saying it looked a little negative but not certain. Well today was my 1st day back to work. I was really scared. They were just uncertain what to do with me. For with me have 5 on light duty now.

Invalid drug test?
Looked at ingredients on homoeopathic for headache I have been taking. First ingredients are: Cinchona officinalis is Quinine Bark Condurango, is South America bark of a vine of the milkweed family Pulsatilla is a species of flowering plant in the family Ranunculaceae orificenicum album derived from the metallic element orificenic This is what probably caused it to be invalid which means low amount of drugs according to Doctor I saw today. I didn't write down anywhere medications I was taking but was asked. Hoping the reason for going to human resources is that they don't know what job to assign me to. For already 3 doing light duty and Doctor not to lift more than 15lbs.

Invalid drug test?
Hurt myself on the job. Was given 2 drug test that night. Both showed invalid. Then the next told to go to an inservice. Was given another test and it showed up invalid. Ask charge nurse if it could because I take Herbs for pain which can be made into prescription drugs. At present haven't been back to work. Saturday told by Doctor not to lift more than 15lb. Called in on weekend and was told to report to human resources Monday. I was not scheduled back to work until Tues thus will be reporting to human resources tomorrow. Has anyone else had a invalid on blood test from pee?

Co-workers don't want to help me change residents!!!
Well there are always some that don't work as a team and will give you a hard time. I had one co-worker that would yell at me at times. Didn't complain about it. Was good for 1 day I needed her help. When 1 co-worker said she would not spot me while I was using the hoyer lift I said," okay, I the next time you ask me for help I will remember this and won't help you. She came and spotted me. We live in a world of meism. Most are looking out for themselves 1st.

Job injury
Forgot to mention that in the ADL book it says the patient is max lift. No pad was under him for max lift. Couldn't find anyone whom had put a pad for max lift under patient in wheel chair. Co-worker initially wanted me to lift him with him to be. I didn't think I could do it so suggested the sit to stand lift.
