I've been at Dekalb for 5 years. It has its ups and downs but overall I love it. Our stepdown unit can be crazy but some people really like that. I haven't really talked to anyone who works in CDU. I have a lot of friends who work at South Fulton and they say it's crazy but pays well (especially the float pool).

I did the AACN practice test too. Loved David Woodruff's course but wanted more practice. I reviewed questions from Pass CCRN and that helped some. For the CMC I got the review course from Med-Ed and it was very helpful.

I thought David Woodruff's review course was great. I passed the exam on the first try. I did use AACN's self assessment test as well, just to boost my confidence and prove to myself that I was ready. :)

Ideally on my floor the charge nurse has no patients... however, I've had as many as 5 while charging before. I like to take 1 or 2 patients sometimes just to make things a little easier for my coworkers, but sometimes it's more helpful to them to just be available to help them out with things.

I also use my cell phone to text people occasionally throughout the night, but not when I'm with a patient of course. And I always keep in on vibrate. We have a couple of techs who are on the phone ALL NIGHT LONG. Yes, that includes while they're doing vital signs. Half the time, it's not even English. It's so frustrating sometimes, but they have been written up and reminded of the policy over and over... they still do it.

"Please bathe patient. If nursing staff is too incompetent to do this, please inform me." This order was written on a 26 year old young man, who walked all around the hospital at least 8 hours a day, and was perfectly capable of taking a shower. He just didn't want to. Were we supposed to restrain him? Haha.

We check for discrepancies every shift, but only do the count of all narcotics once a week.

I used Davis and Mosby books... just reviewed peds and mother/baby and did lots of questions. No review course. 3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? Yeah, we used all of those, but HESI was what we used for the comprehensive exam. 4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? the longest 48 hours of my life! 5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I was sure I had failed... I felt like I had guessed on every question. But I passed. :) 6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Yeah.

Hello everyone... I was wondering if anyone knows how long it generally takes to receive an RN license after passing the boards. I know I passed thanks to those wonderful quick results, now I'm eager to get my license so I can start working. Thanks... :) -Sam

Hey everyone... I had a question about the quick results. I am a Georgia resident, so I was excited that GA participated in the Quick Results thing... I got my ATT this morning but there were no openings in GA until sometime in July. So I scheduled to take the test in Memphis, TN. Will I be able to get results in 48 hours, or since I'm taking it in TN will I have to wait? Also, I called Pearson Vue and they said I can't even call the number that TN residents call to find out, instead I have to wait 4-6 weeks till it is posted on the GA BON website. Anyone know if this is true? Thanks for any help!

Hey, I was wondering how NCLEX results work here in GA. I went to school in TN and my friends found out in a week, so I was wondering how long it takes most people in GA? Also, how do you find out? Is it posted on the BON website or do you get an email. Thanks!
