  1. I know that Duke has a new grad program, you can choose a specialty that you prefer (like the ICU) but I'm not sure it guarantees it... I don't know much about Presby and CMC, but I imagine that its difficult to get right into the ICU there. WakeMed has a new grad program, but when I applied I didn't see and ICU option.
  2. I just finished my ABSN in 11 months, it would be very difficult to complete such a program online and I would highly discourage you from trying to do so. It makes much more sense in class with a person explaining topics. That being said, we completed almost 900 in-person clinical hours during our program so you do have to be in-person for a majority of the time anyways. I would recommend doing an ABSN program if you have the time to commit fully to nursing, I mean have no life! haha. Its tough, I completed the same number of credit hours in almost 3yrs at my former university!! There are many ABSN programs to choose from, find one that fits your needs, 11mo vs 15mo and the location you'd like to be
  3. I don't know if you're instructors use powerpoints or not, but I found it helpful to print them out before hand and add notes in during class! You can do the print 3 with lines to write on the right hand side.
  4. Wow, I'm sorry. That sounds awful. Do you have doctors orders not to climb stairs and abstain from lifting? I'm pretty sure they can't fire you or demote you because of a disability... I would consider seeking legal counseling on the subject.
  5. Hello guys! I was wondering if anyone could do me a huge favor, I'm in an accelerated program and I've got an EBP class where I need to ask a "mentor" a couple questions about an EBP project they were a part of, lead, or wrote. If anyone would have the time to help, it would be greatly appreciated. The more responses the merrier, I know other students have had issues finding people involved with research in our area. The assignment reads: Call or email a nurse researcher currently or very recently involved in a nursing based research project to begin this mentoring aspect of this course. Explain the purpose of this interview in relationship to your enrollment in this course (honestly we haven't had a face-to-face class yet, so i'm not sure what this entails:confused:, though I am very sure it is NOT a huge commitment, most likely asking some more in-depth questions at a later date:D) 1. How did you become interested in the topic or subject matter (what was your inspiration)? 2. How do you view or project application of this study to evidence based nursing practice? 3. What are your goals and hopes in terms of the outcomes of this study? 4. What is or has been the greatest challenge in conducting this study? (if you could please include: the title/name of your "project" and your nursing titles/credentials) Thank you so much guys!!! -Brad [email protected]
