  1. Yay thats good! Did u get an alternate number? They sent me one and then sent another email right after saying they gave me the incorrect number... ive been calling and emailing to see if they can let me know the correct alternate number but no response yet.. hope we both get in! Good luck :)
  2. Hi jchw81. If you just took the test Oct. 10 I would expect to wait another semester... I took my paxrn in april and just got notice that I'm an alternate for Spring 2013. Does anyone know how likely it is for an alternate to get accepted ?
  3. Oh and congrats on finally getting in!!! :) Good luck with everything!!!
  4. Thanks so much. ---- is the one that I've been emailing this whole time and haven't gotten a reply. But I figured I'm probably going to be an alternate of some sort. Thanks again for your help :)
  5. Hi ZAR963 Who did you speak to to get that information? I passed the test in April and applied in March 2011 so if you JUST got in then I probably have another semester to wait... I tried emailing the person who invited me to take the PAX RN but she never replies my emails
  6. Thank you :) Definitely get the NLN book for the test. I think it helped a lot but don't rely completely on it. You will want to read the CLIFFNOTES section for Physics and Chemistry. I honestly didn't think it was too much harder than the TEAS but then again I did spend a lot more time studying for this than I did for the TEAS. I don't know how you would study for the vocab section because I found it impossible to remember all those SAT words. But if you have time then you should. I just tried to guess the words' meaning from the context and that was the section I did the worst on... The science for the PAX has a lot less chemistry than the TEAS and a lot more PHYSICS and BIOLOGY. Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions :)
  7. Hi! I just took the test today! I got a 147 I think that's a passing score but I have no idea what's next... Does this mean we can start in the Fall or we have to wait another semester?
  8. hnguyen509, Didn't we apply at the same time for Santa Monica? you got me worrying now! I emailed them a couple days ago because they originally said they would send out a notice in Feb about testing but they never did. She replied and said that testing would now be in April, not March. What number did you call? I want to make sure I'm on the waiting list... Thanks!!
  9. Does anyone know when they will let us know??? Waiting is torture!
  10. Hi hnguyen, I don't know the exact date but I believe it was early March... I haven't received the actual invitations in the mail yet, just the email notifying me that I will be receiving it in Feb.
  11. Hi I just got an email about a week ago inviting me to take the NLN. They said they are mailing out invitations early Feb. I also applied March 2011. If we pass the test does it mean we're in?
  12. So you were invited to take the TEAS at RCC? AND you finished all your GE? If that is the case I am assuming you did very well in your science pre-reqs and GE and the only thing that is pulling your score down is your TEAS V score. I would re-take it if you didn't do so well then you can really get some more points! :) And just because some people were invited to take the TEAS doesn't mean they have more of a chance in getting in. For example, I wasn't invited to take the TEAS at RCC but I took it somewhere else and it boosted my points by 30 points as opposed to someone who did get invited to take the TEAS at RCC but didn't do so well and maybe only got 20 points. Hope that makes sense... Good luck I hope we can all get in!!
  13. Well technically it's not a pre-req, it's a requirement for graduating with an ADN. Thank you for your advice though! :)
  14. Does anyone know how they calculate the points for non science gpa? What if I haven't taken all of the required classes for an ADN?
  15. Thank you for the words of encouragement! It's good to know somebody else understands my situation... I'm sure many people have been or is where I am right now. I think more programs should do interviews or change their system.. Not everyone with good grades can make a great nurse.
  16. I don't know about other places but around LA a lot of schools no longer have waiting lists.. the only thing you can do is reapply. I've applied to several community colleges such as los angeles county, riverside cc, san diego cc, and goldenwest college. I did not get into LA county, I'm still waiting for the rest
  17. How hard was the NLN? The TEAS V wasn't too bad for me so I'm hoping the NLN is similar. I think I need to take that soon for santa monica college
  18. I need some advice! I have been done with prerequisites for a while and I am trying to apply to community colleges for their ASN program. However I've been feeling really discouraged for a while now after receiving a rejection letter from county. I have an A in micro and physio but a C in anatomy. I got an 87% on the TEAS V and I usually do very well in school, it was just not the right time and place for me when I took anatomy. I know I would make a great nurse but it is just frustrating how hard it is to get in nowadays. Do you think I should retake anatomy? Has anyone with a C ever got into a nursing program?? I would really appreciate some suggestions! Thanks!
  19. I have heard the NLN is much harder but I personally haven't taken it yet. The counselor at Santa Monica College did say it was a much harder version of the TEAS V
  20. Unfortunately I wasn't invited to take the TEAS but I already took them anyway... that probably means my chances of getting into the program is very slim. But I can still submit my TEAS scores which is probably what I'm going to do.
  21. I also applied for spring 2012! Good luck :)
  22. I'm not sure.. still waiting! I heard they usually invite you a semester ahead so it will be 2 semesters instead of 3. Hopefully this spring we will find out!
  23. Does anybody know when Golden west accepts applications? Is it only once a year or twice a year?
