  1. maybe its because im slightly sleep deprived, but im not understanding exactly what ur question is.. let me know and ill see if i can help u out
  2. where i work we have what they call 'weekend nurse' only there on the weekends and work 12hrs on sat and sun.. they also get paid more hrly as an incentive of working every weekend since most nurses want some weekends off.. tho they dont get benefits they do get a certain number of days to use for sick or personal days a yr.. and being a new grad i dont c where that would b a problem, that really depends on the agency or facilty on hiring. finding a job as a new grad can b a pain depending on if ur in a bigger city or a lil town. good luck!
  3. I do believe you can take it for more than one state also. say u sit for the test in ur current state and as long as the state ur moving to dosnt require more clinical hrs than other u can apply to have a multi-state license.. I did some research into it since where i am located i am in pa but close to ny and lil drive from oh.. hope that helps
  4. yes, i am well aware.. i wrote this trying to convince myself there is someone or something that actually controlled our time. I know when it happens its meant to happen. I had a VERY long and depressing night at work and it breaks my heart the things some people go thru and as i do agrre with everything u wrote but strongly believe we r stronger as result of loving and helping others!! thx u for ur response and ur view is how i see it and always have.. it was like i was trying to bargain with things in a fantasy world for sanity sake..
  5. we would have the same prob if I didnt have problems sleeping. The main purpose of me taking 3rd shift. I leave around 10p and get home around 745a he has to b to work at 8 and comes home newhere between 4-6p. The only reason it works for us is this: i get home, calm down and in bed bout 9, and sleep until roughly 230-3p. then im up for the day. and i then get to spend time with my kids coming home from school work with homework and cook dinner and put the kids thru baths and bed then start to get myself rounded up for another night of work. I am one of those people who run better on 5-6 hrs sleep than 8+.. Dont know that I helped much, but I wish u all the best.. opposite shifts r hard on relationships in general.

Good morning everyone.. I felt the need to share this with someone, and this site is the only spot where I think others may completely understand how I'm feeling this morning after a long rough and depressing night shift. Laugh when you can and smile when you can't!! Dear Angel of Death, Please love me enough to let me live+laugh+love=long happy life; when you come to see me please give me a warning to allow my loved ones and I to cope but please dont overstay your welcome, BUT do not do a fly by stop and catch me unexpected! Though I respect you, do not fear u, i do NOT understand why you take someone who has not had a chance to live, or take someone without acceptance, and just as equally bad make someone suffer!!?? Nobody deserves to suffer, wether he b the one u visit or their loved ones.. I'm not happy with you!! Thank you for your time, An angel in disguise: Ali xoxo
  7. I agree, sometimes the things you see and the things we live through in a lifetime doesn't even come close to touching what u learn in a class followed by a degree!
  8. Has anybody ever tried to see if they can add a chat box for the members to use while online?? That would be enjoyable I think, to actually be able to chat back and forth about topics, either nursing related or personal..
  9. I think it depends on the company you work for and what kind of pts your working with. The company I work for provides most of the supplies you would need at a pts home. But I have zipped up binder type of thing that I use to carry my documents, patient teaching forms, mileage log, expense log, and schedular/calendar; which I place in my bag that has a section the binder fits perfectly in, then it has 2 more zippered sections for clean/dirty, and has convenient side pockets for your hand washing supplies. Can you guess what I use.....get ready to be surprised... DIAPER BAG! I love it, they have very stylish diaper bags now that surely do not look like a diaper bag. And a added bonus but a must have is 99% of them have a rugged bottom and interior of bag is easy cleaned! I carefully researched many different bags but was not completely satisfied with them for the money they required, then I decided to get creative and think out of the box...craft/scrap book organizer bags-diaper bag. Good luck I hope you find something that fits you!
  10. As far as working for brightstar without much experience, or for any homehealth agency..I think anyone should have experience in the field..You do not have the back up if u call out for help if a patient codes or someone to grab you the necessary supplies that you forgot cause you havnt experienced a procedure enough times to be comfortable. Brightstar is a franchise..Every locations is individually owned and operated differently. The company itself gets into staffing and homecare, including shifts and visits. I also believe it depends on the programs that the company works with to look at what to expect as far as work. Yes, some work is companionship and other is skilled/medical. That is the greatness of being in home health, you are given the opportunity to have the time and atmosphere to connect with the pt and pt's family that you almost never get in a hospital/ltc setting. If a nurse only strives for the physical/medical care then I dont suggest any homecare settings. Home care in general to me is TRULY treating the pt as mind, body and soul. These pts will become your family and some cases friends. They trust you and respect you more than in any other setting.:redbeathe
