Do you guys love this career that you have chosen?

How is your Child Care situation? From the descriptions I would pick the second one...I would pick the 1st choice, but not if I would be stuck on the second shift forever,as your childs needs change you may want to work a different shift.

I got some shoes from Kmart,They come in wide and they are SUPER comfy and they never seem to get dirty.I cant recall their name,but I checked the online reviews before i bought them...they are the ones on the website with the good reviews and they cost around $22..or $19 when they go on sale.Best shoes ever!..my advice is to try them on in person or buy a 1/2 size down.

Get REALLY organized right now.Clean your house real good.I scrubbed mine top to bottom,organized my closets and paperwork, and made some frozen meals for a few weeks.Get all of your appointments out of the way..Dr.,dentist ect...make yourself a study schedule and stick to it!!!!!! Go over your books DAILY!!! (The important parts..key ideas,Chapter summaries ect..)...don't stress too much about it now..Enjoy your free time while you can

Yes! that's enough to live in Chicago.May be cheaper to live in the Suburbs though....

It depends on how you learn.It was not hard for me,but Science has always been my favorite subject.I read Medical journals and Science textbooks for fun lol!!!! The only hard part is Math and calculations because I'm weak in math..Actually,I can't really say that its hard,I just have to study it a lot more than the other stuff.

I would work as a Cna and go to the lpn school.You can do a CNA program in 6 weeks.Yes,the trade schools are expensive,but in my case I got accepted into the trade school immediately and I was on the cheaper schools waiting list for 3 years.In my state Medical assisting and LPN schools are both 1 year programs,I would just go right to the LPN school.

20-23 in Chicago without differentials.

First I check the school library.They usually have the books but u can only rent them for like 7-10 days.I just keep on renting them,or I study with them in the library.If its a subject that I REALLY need to study all day then I would talk to the Proff about other editions(they usually have copies at their house that u can borrow)..next stop would be to compare the Amazon cost With the rental price at Chegg. I can usually rent a book from Chegg for 45-75 for the whole semester.

I think that's a Wonderful idea! Do you pick up languages easily? Nursing school is HARD.You will be doing lots of studying so make sure that your second major is one that you can handle easily. You could also pick up exercise classes to get your credits or something fun like sewing,pottery..or even have marketing or business as a minor if you ever want to open up a home care agency or something...or even classes that would qualify you to teach..you could be a substitute teacher as a part time gig! The big thing to ask yourself is what your long term goals are and take it from there.Take classes that will help you to that point.

It's already done so you can only reflect and move on from that grade.Take the time to really look at WHY you got that grade? Did you make enough time to study? Were you busy with the kids? Were you not motivated? Did you run out of time? Did you not understand the material? Be honest and go from there,BUT you must figure this out now because the classes in nursing will only get harder.You must find the time for yourself to study. I am a mommy too and I Always have mommy guilt if I take the time to study.What I have learned is I can ONLY really study at the library or after the kids go to sleep.I tried to fight that,I tried to take time during the day but it never worked out..so I just changed my whole sleeping schedule around,the hubbie helps them get ready in the morning and I have my study time..find out what can work better in your situation for next semester.

1)One is and ADN and one is a BSN,There is not much difference in pay on average but there are certain jobs that you can only have with a BSN.For example,My goal is to work in public health running a clinic and going out into the community to educate.The public health dept here requires me to have a BSN..You also need a BSN do do most of the administrative parts of nursing and some top notch hospitals ONLY accept BSN nurses.Also,in this economy it would not hurt to have the most education(although many BSN's are having a hard time as well). 2) Because all programs are different.All schools have different programs with different requirements.You need a variety of programs to fit the different needs of the nursing community. 3)Get your BSN and try to get into that specialty after a few years of experience,and Yes its competitive..but all areas are competitive at the moment. 4.I would join as a reserve NOW,so that the military could help to pay for my schooling....I Believe(not 100% sure) that you can sign up with the military now and they will pay for school,then you could join after college.. Search this site for most of your questions,and when you need advice about things other than school you should post them in the main forum because most of us here are students,The seasoned nurses could probably provide better answers to some of these questions.

You should take as many of the classes as you can.If they accept people on a point system,someone who has those other classes would score higher than you and would have a better chance of being admitted. The school might also see you as more likely to succeed because you have all of your core courses done-so more time to focus on the nursing courses.

Is there any way that you can keep your job while pursuing nursing? Maybe part time With both..I Would not quit ANY job in this economy to go back to school because it seems really hard to get a job in most sectors.I understand having dreams,but the nursing industry is not looking so great right now so a part time program may be best..maybe the economy will be better once you finish your program.

I would stick with the first job while you are in school because it's easier to study when working 13 shifts a month vs.20.

I would apply to both PLUS all of the other schools with good pass rates.Nursing schools are HARD to get into because they have so many applicants.If you did get accepted to both I would choose Wright because from what you typed that's a 1+1 program and you could start your LPN work,then continue school while getting experience and a paycheck.

I would just say to do your research.There are other schools that are cheaper that do include the books..not sure if any school includes the uniforms though.When researching your future school you have to include EVERYTHING in the costs..even transportation,so one school might be 3,000 less but if its an hour away from your house you have to consider that..especially with gas so high and during Illinois Winters.What I did was write down every school and made columns for the pros,cons,prices,and other things to determine which school was a best fit for MY education and MY lifestyle.Also,make sure that you know where the school has its clinicals..which may be really far from the campus.Finally,cost is a big issue when finding a school but it's not everything..all I can say is to trust your GUt when you tour the campus and ask lots of questions..If u can talk to a few students as well.Good luck!

I'm curious about which fields are doing well at the moment.I love health care and I want to consider different parts of this field.But,I don't want to go back to school and then spend 2 years looking for a job.Thanks!

The SAME thing happened to my friend.She was in a high level of math at her old college,but they told her she failed the math test...weird..Heck,she is MY math tutor lol and I passed the test at 2 other schools..

I would honestly move to the suburbs...The safe and nice places to live in Chicago have CRAZY rent prices..like a 1 bedroom for 1300 in Lincoln Park...You can find something a little cheaper farther North or West..but it wont be MUCH cheaper.You can make more and have cheaper rent in the burbs and be a little safer if u are a single woman..With east access to the City via the Metra train...Anyways Most of my friends average 28 in the city and 32 in the suburbs..and u can easily find a 2 bedroom for 800 in most of the suburbs.

Do all the facilities have Unions there? Or just hospitals,I mean is it a requirement in Cali to have Unions?
