  1. Uh oh, I think these flowers alarmed our manager that we're on break. Don't look over here she comes.
  2. Uh oh, I think our manager just seen us on our unallowed lunch break.
  3. Does anyone have the studyguide?
  4. I did it. Around the area I live in, it is very hard to get into the straight RN programs. So I went EMT to LVN then worked as an LVN while finishing my pre-reqs. I did work in a SNF though. I felt like it helped me know meds and be faster at assessments and made me recognize changes in conditions. I even worked in a hospital on Medsurg as an LVN while waiting to take NCLEX. There are urgent cares and even some ED's that still utilize LVN/LPN. Recently at the hospital I work in they are hiring them for float pool too.
  5. A hotel as a front desk clerk. When we weren't busy we were expected to do the laundry! I thought that's what the housekeepers were for!
  6. Ugh! I had one of these in LTC! I felt like he was just trying to control what he could as a way of dealing with the loss of his valuable functions. But it was no excuse for making it hell for everyone around him. He would curse at other patients (elderly) and staff. I didn't feelbad at all when he was kicked out, I was relieved.
  7. Nope. Wouldn't feel bad at all. We go to work most of the time when we're sick as it is. Something like that, I would've called in too. Not like you can tell you're diarrhea when it can and can't start. It's not your fault the facility is not staffed enough to get you covered right away.
  8. I would like to know which nurse would be held accountable if anything was to happen to the patient in a situation where the patient is dumped into a bed with nobody aware and something goes wrong. I don't think it should be the unaware nurse since that nurse hasn't even had a chance to accept the patient. I work per diem in a hospital that does fax report and all the info I need is never on there. I had a pt the other day who came in for AMS and nowhere on my report did it show he had fallen and hit his head or that he got sutures in ED. We don't get to see the ED notes. No CT was done for this pt either.
  9. The ED Tech sounds like a great idea. I'll have to look into that. Thanks all!:)
  10. Oh wow. Maybe I should just do homecare, if I absolutely have to work. I just don't want to get anything mixed up on my way. Thanks for your response. :)
  11. Hello, hope I'm posting this in the right section. I just received my EMT license and will be going to nursing school next month. I haven't worked as an EMT yet but was thinking that if finances got too tough I may have to. So, since I'm just going to start school next month and learn a new job, I think it may be extra hard. Just wondering if anyone else has accomplished this at the same time....
