  1. I graduated march 2009, moved to anoth location, i never got to take the nclex till August , pass and applied to countless postings, still no interview as of yet. Applied to two agencies got a 2 day case with one in april 2010 and with another months later(july-october) got 1-3 days work. at one point nothing for a 5 weeks. This type is called per diem or prn jobs. Not sure when you will work is the norm, i am not use to this work style so i am going to work in another field for stable income. west Florida
  2. That is so true, all the applications and calls, it is not an job hunt but a kiss ass competition. Recruitors/hr staff don't care about you as a person. I can not count how many apps i have done, mostly online, and never(seriously) got a reply/interview of sort for about 14months now. I have a PN licensed and can not get a job yet some many postings..This is their way of getting cheap disperate people to do alot or eveything under the sun for less. I have heard of Ph office offering 14/hr for lpn.
  3. i did all that, even apply for nights, which i am not alert to do.(day person)
  4. thanks for the encouragment, i work as a cna for a hh agencies for 7+ years and applied to so many others, but they will not hire untill i have 1 year of working experience. i will keep on applying, hope one day get somehing, i would never want to help from the state.
  5. thanks, moo, i did all of that too, indeed, career, monster,walk-ins referrals etc, no respond. i would get the auto reply that my resume or/and application been recieved and a recruiter will contact if it matches the qualifications. so far till now nothing. i thought including my clinical experience and yrs of hha would be a good thing, but when i got desperate and go by or call these facilities for follow up , they said i need a year of working experience. it must be a florida lpn thing. thanks any way i am still searching and applying.
  6. Hi Cathy Foley, I have been a CNA for 4 years and work for HH Agency for 7rs as HHA.I got my LPn August 09 and did pretty much the tips you gave, sad to say i am still unemployed. They questions asked by employers are not how long you've been an LPN , but have you been working as an lpn for a year, do you have a yr in LTC, acute,med-surg.. etc. Even my current agency won't me without a yr under my belt. Thanks for the tip i am sure it will be useful to someone.
  7. where are you located i need a job ASAP and can not find anyone who willing hire without experience. i am in Florida HELP...
  8. I am so happy for you, hope you are doing great. quick ?.after NCLEX did you send out resume and applications online to job sites (careerbuilder, monster, etc) or did you do appls on the company job site instead. I did both and walk in person and i have not gotten a call or remail, nothing. Its 13 months. Do i say i have 13months experience even though i never work 6mths.? Suggestion/tip are appreciated. Thanks
  9. I wish i had known about this site and read these forums before i wasted the time to become an LPN. I like many other newbees are proof that it is phasing out and fast. Facilties hardly hiring new grad and if they do its on a prn/per diem basis. They all want you to have experience in some area or another atleast 1 year, yet they will not give you the chance to gain the experience. pass exam 8/2009 and still no work.... Yes its October 2010. Now i need a job to finance RN school.....
  10. I am sorry you feel that. I am now hating it too. I was a HHA/CNA for 9yrs. Went back and got my LPN, now after 13 months still can not get a LPn job in Tampa and (surronding area) . Yes i have tried ALFs, nursing home, hosptals and Health agencies( work with one for 7yrs) anything to get that experience. But they all told me they someone with atleast a yr experince or in acute, med surg, LTC ,etc. After all those years and stress of school i hate to say i want to change career. I was so over joyed when i pass my exam(aug 09). I did not see this coming. No work, no pay check..... what a life for a nurse who wants to work yet so many so call listings.
  11. Any in Hillsborough ,Polk, Pinellas or Pasco counties(Florida) hiring without experience?
  12. Wow, if a new RN can not a job, what chance do i have as a LPN in Tampa, Florida. I hope it gets better soon.
  13. Thanks for the tip. i worked with a hh agencies(7 yrs with 1) and they won't hire me until i obtain atleast 1yr of working experience. I am strongly considering RN, but would like to get some experience under my belt as well as income.
  14. In tampa, florida Lots of job postings, relentless resume sending and filling out applications and still can not get a job. I would like to use the skills i learn before i loose them. Any one knows the trick/ tips to getting a LPn job with hospitals and Alfs without experience..
  15. Thats a year worth of unpaid work....LOL. I ts14 months and still looking. All the clinical skills unused, no one wants to hire a lpn with less than a year working experienc. Its so depressing. I have done home health for nine years with agencies(7 yrs with 1) and even they won't hiring me untill i have a yr exp. Any tips i would like some assistance please. Loosing it before i use it(skills)
